the “but we aren’t dating” so confide in someone else line actually does make sense. gina’s saying “i’m not your girlfriend so stop saying all this stuff to me and go talk to your actual girlfriend or anyone else about your relationship” bc ricky is basically using her as a girlfriend stand-in as practice runs for what he’s going to say to nini (bc ricky and nini have a BIG communication issue which was already foreshadowed in 2x01). so that is why she says “we aren’t dating so maybe there are better ppl to confide in about nini”. she probably already feels like a placeholder for Nini bc Ricky and her were each other’s person when they were broken up until he got back with Nini and then started ignoring all of Gina’s needs.

"is this sth nini would want?" aka why are you asking me just ask your girlfriend and 2. there are better ppl to confide in so if ur not gonna take my advice of just asking ur gf what she wants find someone else to confide in but not me. and in relationships you have to be proactive. she did try on valentines day but he was kinda weird and then shushed her so nini would´t know she was with him which made her uncomfortable but other than that he should´ve just asked how she was doing and he never did. he wasn´t being a good friend and only coming to her when he needed sth. that´s why she was so surprised when ej asked her how she was doing. bc even tho that´s just common decency rick was so wrapped up in his relationship that he never even did that. and i mean she was hurting so bad she wanted to move again and no one even noticed...

My problem with Rini is they're both changing and they haven't been able to make room for each other in that. Ricky's issues are very clear, they're are also easily fixable because he has learned to share his feelings. Nini on the other hand is lying, hiding her feelings, and refusing to be honest with herself and Ricky. She blames him for "keeping under glass" but she was happy with being there and now that she's not she should just say so. I also feel like she's hasn't been considerate of everything Ricky is going through, and so while I do understand that she feels stifled, why wouldn't she just be honest about it. They both have a lot of growing up to do.

And they’re horrible at communicating! I thought it was interesting how Gina is actually good at getting people to talk about their feelings as she did with EJ. She’s a great listener and communicates well! I feel like Ricky and Nini have outgrown each other and were too afraid to admit it. There was a lot of growth from other characters this season except for Ricky and Nini. I assume Season 3 will be Ricky and Nini’s growth.

There's nothing "friendly" going on between Ricky/Gina, Ricky's just extremely oblivious and has actually toyed with Gina's emotions this whole season which is why she says that 'I'm not your gf' comment... don't you remember he openly flirted with Gina last season? I was so happy when she put him in his place. It's also the way Ricky's acted that's made her drift from him and appreciate EJ in a new way who's obviously grown so much since the beginning. She realised she deserved better than being a back up or a placeholder (kind of metaphorical seeing as both EJ and Gina *are* the "understudies" since the beginning).

Hands down, my favorite part of season 2 is the relationships. They way they portray how relationships build and fall apart, and how a relationship can end on mutual terms but still really suck. It really grows the characters and their lives.

I don’t see why you’re so upset with Gina in the first few episodes. Ricky is looking at her just as much as she is looking at him in the first episode. She isn’t in a relationship, so she owes no loyalty to anyone. In the Valentines episode, Ricky is one of her closest friends so going to talk to someone who understands her isn’t that odd. I think your forgetting she’s a 15 year old girl with a crush, it’s not weird to do these things when you’re a young girl. Also Gina and EJ is weird imo because she’s 15 and he’s 18 and about to graduate...

Despite saying that she respects Ricky & Nini’s relationship, Gina obviously harbors a grudge against Ricky leading to her snapping at him. But the thing is, Ricky is just treating Gina as one of his closest friends. In the entirety of the theater club, outside of Nini, he is closest to Big Red and Gina. So who does he go to for advice about Nini? Big Red and Gina. Ricky may have been insensitive asking Gina after she confessed to having feelings for him, but at the same time, what does Gina even expect from Ricky? He simply listened to her expressing her feelings but he didn’t reciprocate them. Furthermore, he is obviously in a relationship and even before him and Nini got back together, he spent the entire season pining for her. I would think it would’ve been obvious that he’s only got eyes for Nini. Gina just threw a pity party for herself when the answer is right there.

@@crazilyinliv but the thing is he did reciprocate them at one point during s1 while spending more time with Gina, in the book when she kisses him on the cheek, it describes him liking it and feeling confused at the same time, also in ep 5, he says "he couldn't forget about anything that happened at homecoming" (talking about cheek kiss) and gina hesitates and doesnt talk so he changes the topic before she can speak thinking she doesnt feel the same way, he was starting to move on from nini when spending time away from her and instead spending it with gina and its only when gina said she was moving away and wasnt there in ep 8 was when he almost kissed nini. plus you can see it in his face all the time when hes with gina he always gets so vulnerable and opens up, and hes always left confused and conflicted in his face when gina leaves so just use context clues and know that no, he hasn't always just had eyes for nini.

@@crazilyinliv Ricky should’ve talked to Nini instead of Gina/Big Red. Nini and Ricky have horrible communication skills which was a problem in Season 1. Anytime you get back together with an ex it’s important to talk about what the issues were that caused the initial breakup. It’s obvious they didn’t become better at communicating. Gina was trying to be a friend but it is hard liking someone while they’re asking you relationship advice. It’s unfair to Gina and I don’t know why he didn’t talk to Kourtney who is Nini’s best friend! But we’ll see what Season 3 brings because Ricky had an interesting look when Carlos said that EJ couldn’t take his eye off of Gina.

I felt the exact same way about the Gina and Ricky situation I thought I was the only one since everyone was shipping them together when he clearly didn't like her back in that way and only had eyes for nini, because he was in a literal relationship with her. idk maybe it's just me but if I liked a guy, but he's in a relationship I wouldn't even think about him anymore in that way and respect their relationship especially since Nini and Ricky had a long history together before even knowing Gina. In my opinion Gina deserves someone who actually likes her back like EJ for example I think they are great together.

I think this season was a lot better than people give it credit for. Minus a couple episodes including the finale. This is why it stands out so much. I mean look at the fan ratings on IMDB. It's so far below any episode of the show. Also gina/ej are just not it for me. They lack chemistry and their writing is so awkward especially the final two episodes. Hopefully if we get s3 we get that ricky/gina chemistry cause my god I missed it

Ricky and Gina shouldn't date as I feel like they're better at being friends than they would a couple. Ricky and Nini would only be a good relationship if they learn to communicate with one another more so on Nini's part than Ricky's. I'm interested in this Ricky and Lily thing that's happening, have my theories on why she stole the harness as well. My thought process is that she stole the harness so Ricky wouldn't potentially get hurt/injured by it again. Last time we saw Ricky on the harness he fell and got injured.
