In regards to the kind of person who should inherit colossal, you hit the nail on the head. Armin and Berthold are both reserved and contemplative people. Colossal is a tactical nuke plus a tank; it's incredibly powerful, but it's capacity for collateral damage is huge. Someone prone to outburst like Erin, Jean, or even Hange, with the colossal is a threat to their own team. But someone who can wait for an opening, watch how things progress, and then position themselves correctly without drawing attention? You can win without even fighting.

Awesome reactions. This is peak anime, and one of the best anime seasons of all time. I love this damn show so much... Erqin's speech to the cadets to get them to sacrifice themselves is phenomenal. As is Levi telling Erwin to die and entrust everything to him... you can feel the immense emotional weight of these scenes for the characters. Don't even get me started on Armin, the goat. This was the perfect way to transition to Armin being the future brains of the survey corps without diminishing how incredible Erwin was. It does not feel forced at all, and Armin's build up over several seasons of having many accomplishments made it make perfect sense as to why Eren and Mikasa would have complete faith in his abilities to succeed and even surpass Erwin. I just love the crazy sh*t this series comes up with. What sane person could come up with a plan that sacrificed all but one soldier just to win? Erwin is an incredible character, and his insane gambles are so iconic. He can always see the slim path to victory, even when it is paved in blood. Levi is just on another level... you can't let that guy get near you or you are finished. Part of the reason why the Beast Titan lost so fast is because he got surprised and clearly underestimated the survey corps... but he is weaker than Levi in close combat no matter how you slice it (haha, puns). Levi is just too powerful, and nobody in the series can claim to surpass him in close quarters combat. You have to fight him at range to have any chance of winning. The crazy thing is that even though Levi specializes in close quarters, he was still at a huge disadvantage because the only thing he could hook with his ODM gear was the titans themselves. Normally in that situation a titan shifter could just grab your ODM line and ragdoll you like you saw Annie do in season 2, but Levi is so superhumanly fast that you cannot react to his movements in time to do that before he cripples your eyes and limbs, and then yanks you out of the titan to seal his victory. And even as great as this all is, the best is yet to come. It only continues to get better.

Reiner is the only one who can transfer his consciousness, it’s part of the reason why he’s the armored titan. He’s able to survive more than any other titan shifter. I wish it was explained before or he just wasn’t as blown away but that’s the reasoning behind it

Like the colossal titan has both his steam attack and the ability to control how much damage you do in transformation, the armoured titan's user has insane levels of healing and can take more damage than any other titan. Like Annie has her crystallisation and the scream that attracts pure titans. They tend to have more than one ability.

The plot armour titan does feel like it's plot armoured... but in hindsight on rewatch after enlightenment, that's not the case. It's one of the many secret of titan powers, that gets revealed progressively. Most people still don't get why it's possible, but in fact what Reiner done is plausible bcoz it's based upon a natural phenomenon present in real nature (will be spoilerish to divulge it as of now). Also, a misinterpretation, killing Reiner doesn't have anything to do with slicing his human body neck. It applies for Titans alone. Slicing off a human neck, still doesn't kill the human immediately. The beheaded head is still alive for a time.

This part 2 of season 3 is phenomenal and IS one of the highlights of the series. I’ll keep saying again the writing is INSANE.
