I'm sorry to hear man, the engine blew at a very low milage. What do you think man should I reconsider taking mine to the track it has 87000 miles, I want to upgrade a lot of brakes and suspension components, I have Extanded warranty so based on checking my timing chain is at -3 degrees and I only have -2 degrees left for the engine to skip timing and maybe bow up, For now I'm just driving it, and all I can do is suspension brakes and esthetics.
@AHMoss Жыл бұрын
mine wasn’t timing related, i had this happen around 40k miles i think. this car has seen nothing but abuse & on a stock engine it’s far from designed to handle so much

My condolences. I had a rod go through the block (not a Audi, but 4 cyl) on the oval of Auto Club Speedway. The mechanic suspected oil starvation.

I’m sorry to hear that man, it’s funny you mention it I keep getting told that more and more, too many people guessing oil starvation played a role

Noooooo! I really wanted to know about that clutch you just got from south bend! Right after we just talked about my rattling clutch from clutch masters lol. Sorry to hear about your loss man. I’d be torn if my B9 went out like that.
@AHMoss4 жыл бұрын
part of the risk of abusing it on track lol, the clutch actually held fine. my initial thought was that the clutch had actually grenaded but it was the motor.

Well hopefully you don’t get rid of her but if you do, let me know if you’re looking to part out since I’m local!

I hope not too, on the chance I do get rid of her I will definitely list a public partout

Aww that's terrible. I guess it was eventually gonna happen when you're the only one pushing the platform to its limits. You're experiences and videos are invaluable to the B9 community. Hope that you don't leave! Also, what gas do you use on track and on the road?
@AHMoss4 жыл бұрын
Oh for sure, no matter how much you accept the risk it’s still a kick in the nuts when it happens lol. I appreciate the kind words, I really don’t want to leave the platform just yet. Gas is 91 on the road & 91 on track with a splash of 101

Sorry to hear this man, I just bought a 2017 A4 so I’m hoping this doesn’t happen to me lol. Do you frequently track this car?
@AHMoss4 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on your purchase, I track this car more than it’s driven on the streets and this happened because we found the car’s limitation’s in the lubrication system.

So your engine gave out because of lubricantion/oil? I usually change my oil every 5k miles. Just got this car with low mileage & planing on doing some things to it but I’d hate for this to happen to me..
@AHMoss4 жыл бұрын
wasn’t a matter of having good/new oil in there, it just couldn’t keep up with all the lateral Gs
@wilpineda11884 жыл бұрын
I was going to guess perhaps fuel octane but i noticed you use pump 91 with a plash of 101. For the motor to go with that low rpm I would guess detonation.

That was also an idea that crossed my mind

How much will it cost to fix it?

between parts and labor probably 5-10k depending how cheap a motor can be found

I just installed the stage 2 IE tune on my B9 A4, its at 53k miles, thats the ultimate fear I have for my car is pushing it too far or too long and it breaking down like that as its mt daily driver.
@AHMoss4 жыл бұрын
This wasn’t a result of the tuned engine, it was extreme lateral acceleration & a lacking lubrication system that lost oil pressure and starved the motor of oil. Spun a bearing and kaboom. If it’s your daily driver and you push the daylights out of it on the streets you shouldn’t run into this issue. I can’t speak for IE as I have no experience, but 034Motorsport’s tune has been problem free with my many many track days.
@maxbuchanan88694 жыл бұрын
@@AHMoss thanks for the info man. I dont take it to the track other than the drag strip but thats very short bursts of high engine usage but other than that its just cruising or messing around on the roads. When I do get on it I dont push it to its limit though so the engine has no problem with handling the load
@maxbuchanan88694 жыл бұрын
Only thing im slightly worried about is with the tune my FtLBS of torque is 380 which is fairly high for the car
@AHMoss4 жыл бұрын
@@maxbuchanan8869 you’ll be more than fine, the tunes should rarely cause an issue in that scenario
@thekrogmanman4 жыл бұрын
Such a bummer. Have you contacted Audi? Maybe if you got spoke to the right person they'd be interested in what failed for R&D purposes. You're at the tip of the spear for this platform man.
@AHMoss4 жыл бұрын
I tried reaching out to Audi, regardless of circumstance, they will always close their door as soon as they see the car has been tuned. The sad thing is I keep hearing oil statvation from many sources, which has 0 to do with the tune :/
