I'm verified on KZbin so if you see a comment from me be sure that it's my verified account. ALSO... these PS5's were bought from a retailer, then returned to the retailer and likely exchanged for another PS5. I appreciate the explanation of your actions. You’re right that it makes no sense to get rid of what can (sometimes) easily be fixed. Morally, you’re doing the environment a service in giving plastic and everything involved in making a PS5 a second chance at life. I think lots of people could learn a thing or two from you and your outlook on life. I imagine you don’t make much profit from fixing electronics this way, and that it’s largely time consuming. You probably rely on KZbin and other mediums to fill your wallet, but you’re doing a good thing, and I respect that.

I can't imagine how tedious it would be to reball such a chip. I'm betting it's got over 2000 pads to get those teeny tiny solder balls onto. @yikes20963 жыл бұрын
Exactly and if Sony do get their hands on them they would fix and resell refurbished. Something seems fishy. I don't understand how someone would received a broken ps5 in these times and not warranty it, because it is still in warranty guaranteed.

I hate when people just take out random screws, not even doing any research on how to disassemble consoles. Like I watched Steve's Tronics Fix video on how to disassemble a PS4 pro three times before I ever even removed the warranty label. If I didn't feel comfortable after the third time, I wouldn't have bothered with it. But the way he explained it was very straight forward and I was able to examine, clean, and re-apply thermal paste, which was my main reason for doing it. Good thing I did, the thermal paste around the APU was dry to point of coming off in chunks and the paste between the heat sync and the APU was barely liquid. Almost the consistency of uncured caulking.

There is already a lot of talk about Sony knowing of a major flaw with their launch PS5s. It has to do with a certain memory module that runs much hotter than the others and many suspect that it's the biggest cause of failure with these launch models. Nothing for sure but we'll know if we see a revision soon and that module isn't going bonkers within minutes of power-on.
