The most important question(s) haven't been answered in my opinion. Specifically, what causes the majority of IC failures aside from a bad (or abused) charging port/chip? I'm an old school EE with experience in old school pre-surface mount technology (i.e., DIP, SIP, discrete components, etc.) trained by NASA, TRW, and others. I find the surface mount technology repairs daunting, since my eyes ain't what they used to be and have to use my Optivisor almost exclusively now. And I trust you are using Kester 63/37 instead of 60/40 or worse. Oh, by the way, your video is excellent, I enjoyed it immensely. And Steve, I use a Fluke 87 V, what probes are you using to test the main board. I need to get some of those. Thanks!

Some of those switches have the "Turn on display when docked or undocked" setting disabled. Pretty sure that's why some of those seemed unpredictable. I noticed the one at 25:50 turned on when you touched the screen. Just keep in mind that switch has settings to determine how the device powers on. =\
@tomd96 Жыл бұрын
I didn't know they could have that setting as I'm only familiar with the Switch Lite, though at this point, they've probably been torn down into parts to recover some of the cost. Even those with liquid damage could still have a decent part that could be salvaged, the heat sink, screen, cartridge board, etc. Getting the screen out is a bit difficult as it requires deactivating the adhesive that keeps it glued to the frame. People who do case mods struggle with it.
