Yeah I have a four year old miniature pinscher I got him when he was two weeks old.. Looks identical to this dog but black and tan and he's permanently that size lol but my god the first two years was very difficult for me.. Now he's calmed down and he's like my son

$10,000 for a dog who is clearly not from a good breeder. No reputable breeder would be selling a puppy for that much, or to someone who has no experience with working dogs. I wish you luck definitely invest in a good balanced trainer and work with him daily. Having a good protection dog is not something you can just expect you need to actually train it.

Now one thing I don’t like about this is that the guy showed up in a van with them. I don’t know to me I have to meet the parents and see where the dog is coming from. These dogs are incredible and insanely smart if you train him to bite make sure you keep up with it. Your dogs life is all about training don’t give up on the work when he already knows because that will just be hell for you and him.

good breeder, terrible delivery service. the guy that pulled up in the van was transporting dogs from several different breeders, took 4 extra days to arrive to me & was not providing a good travel experience for the dogs at all so I definitely wasn’t happy about that, the breeder I purchased from mentioned a different transport service he regularly uses but I wanted the quickest which ended up being slower & unprofessional conditions unfortunately

He's a cute little guy, though that person rolling up in a van has me big time concerned about the breeding conditions he may have come from. Also its really NOT a great idea to lift a puppy up like that when they're biting. A lot of puppies and dogs get their front teeth messed up badly from that. I recommend looking up Shield K9's video "How to start protection training with a German Shepherd puppy". Really I just suggest Shield K9 in general if you're serious about having a well trained protection dog. Haz is one of the best protection dog trainers out there in my humble opinion and gives away a lot of his training secrets completely free (though he has structured online training courses too if you feel like paying for them). He's also worked with some absolutely monstrous working dogs before, including a real beast of a dutch shepherd named "Mace".

Train them very well because they acquire lots of energy and attention, you have a great dog I have 1 and looking to get another one shortly. Have them around your friends and family they love to socialize but any other than that you should have a great dog.

Wear the collar high on his neck it’ll help to make him better at being controlled as a puppy. When you put the collar on the top part of the neck, you can pull slightly to get them to not do something you don’t want them to do and they’ll learn.

Congrats on the pup! Find a good trainer to work with, as good dutch shepherd’s are not your typical dog. I bred them for law enforcement and personal protection for yrs. Many new comers get chewed up bad with poor handling. They are serious dog if from good genetics

Glad the pup didn't cost $10K.... Super high priced dogs from proper breederw esp working line dogs will a) NOT sell to anyone, you will need to orove you can take care of the dog/are around etc b) Will take back a dog they sold you if genetic health issues show up in 1st 2 yrs (with money back) and also will take back a dog for any reason you can't keep dog anymore (albeit won't give money back). Any high priced dog better have very good health checks inc good temperament parents, x-rays, DNA checks for disease etc... Also, the wash-out rate is very high for any type of service dog esp those helping people with physical and mental health issues.

I adopted my then, 1 year old sheperd - border collie mix dog from a shelter that was about to end his life. Now he is healthier, more disciplined, and alive. It didn't cost me 3k but I know if you are willing to pay that much for a dog like that, that dog wouldn't have a problem getting adopted. You might have adopted 3 like him for no price, and give them the good life you will give your dog. I couldn't really understand the reason why you adopted him. Do you want him to become an attack dog? If you want him to be a defensive dog for your home, you can still adopting. A lot of breeds are left in the shelters, from any age even if the age only requires more time of training. That guy you adopted him from, didn't seem very humble. He might have a female shepherd and golden retriever for breeding and selling pups. If this is the case I've seen multiple times of a guy who torture the dog for breeding. That would be awful. I think this bc there's no reason for him to have that many dogs there unless it was for selling them that night. Like, who the hell has a pile of caged dogs at night in his backtrack? I've only seen it from where I come from, which is a tourist Island so makes sense to see that kind of stuff. (Canary Islands). And the guy sold super unhealthy border collie dogs in a van just like that. I couldn't resist to adopt one (400$. But still, it was for saving him) with my father so we could give him better treatment. He was bigger that the cage it was given. And he was just 1-2 months old. He had scoliosis and a lot of problems till we could afford the medical procedure. I'm not sending you any harsh, I don't care what you do with your money. Not much, but if I can give you an advice in empathy with all the dogs there are in shelters- Maybe would be nice of you if you could donate some money to a animal shelter you know. And who knows, maybe record it so your audience thinks about adopting as an option.
