I Bought A 192k Mile Audi B7 RS4...

Anxious, nervous, excited, all the emotions! I recently won a 192k mile RS4 off of Cars and Bids, and took delivery of it last week. Very excited for the videos coming up, and very quickly falling in love with this car!

Great video!!! Out of the heaps of B7 RS4 content that I have viewed, this video was quality, maybe it was the Clarkson intro - Well Done and Congrats. Can not believe how clean that car is, I have a Silver version with a lot less mileage about 90,000 (and it has lived it's life in the Aussie heat) so I am well aware of how well they stand up to time and the elements at least I know that mine should still look the goods after another 100k. Look forward to more on this wonderful piece of automotive art.

Man this makes me miss my B7 S4. same color & same interior as that RS4. loved the sound of the V8 especially after an exhaust with piggy pipes, and I can imagine the RS4 sounds even better. Really looking forward to see what you do with it. I started watching all your videos after I got my B8 S4, and I just started watching all of your SQ5 videos as well because I just got one too. Oh, and that third gear grind is a common issue with those transmissions. At least the 6 speeds that came in the B6 and B7 A4,S4,RS4 at higher mileages. My B6 A4 with stage 3+ power has been doing that for the last 30k it has 222,240k miles now. It’s a ‘indicator’ that the car has been loved a whole lot lol. Expect second gear to be ready to pop out come cold winters too. Go to JHM get yourself a rebuild kit and have a shop rebuild it synchronizers, detent balls and may as well get stiffer shifter bushings as well. If you want to skip just fully depress the clutch like down to the floor and that grid should be less pronounced. This issue in my opinion is caused by previous owner shifting aggressively and not fully clutching. It’s manageable though.

I'm so excited for you brother. There is a special place in my heart for the b7 RS4. Back in 2009, I bought a B6 S4 I had been lusting after since it was released. The owner of my local shop had bought an rs4 and supercharged it. He would have it parked up front in the showroom. I just remember looking at the front end and wheel arches and just being awestruck. Few cars have ever made me feel that way exotics included. Enjoy it brother I'm looking forward to the new content. Oh and fire intro ✌

i had a 2007 B7 s4 also in dolphin grey, and my car with only 60k miles also had the same exact 2nd to 3rd gear grind. a lot of nostalgia watching this video.

Congrats! Great value car! My money is on a worn synchro ring for 3rd/4th gear. Quite common on the B6/7 gearboxes! I changed my synchro ring on my B6 avant, but the 1st/2nd gear ring. It did the same as yours, snatched when going into gear, then it got worse and would 'lock' in 2nd gear if you came to a stop in 2nd. After a while, mine totally lost 2nd gear with no drive as the teeth on the synchro ring just wore/broke away. Fixed it myself in the garage at home, cost me £100 with parts from Audi. You have to be comfortable stripping boxes down though! Then it's getting the preload shim washers right when rebuilding. It's doable DIY though! Good luck and great car! I'm sticking with my 3.0T S5 coupe, for now.

Welcome to the RS community! I have a B8.5 RS5 and we know it's not the fastest or quickest, but the NA V8 has so much soul and character. Have owned previous Audis and have driven much faster cars. The RS5 is my favorite. Also loved the RS4!

First of all, Iam so jealous of you. I parted with my b6 manual s4 avant about 2 years ago now... the platform just didnt have the speed. That being said Ive loved the rs since the day it hit our shores... still kind of slow compared to other things you could buy/ mod but they sound awesome and at least the rs is decently quick! Iam happy for you! When we all sat in live stream weeks ago and you didnt like any of my ideas I thought I was going to be bored by your new project... but this is a nice, unexpected surprise. That RS4 exterior does look mint!! I’m having the same issue with my b8.5 S4 my third gear synchro is also bad. Got that same grinding noise going into 3rd.
