In total agreement about the radios... I also am with you about some of the after market changes that people make to cars thinking it looks great when in reality it does not. The Florida sunshine wore that Escalade out. You are quite resourceful in getting your parts and installing things as well. Good video.

It's a shame people let these beautiful trucks go. The MSRP was like 60K! Once rebuilt these Trucks are super reliable, comfortable and in my opinion one of the nicest looking. I just picked up an ESV and it took me a long time to find one since they are always trashed.

For rebuilt transmissions it depends on who does the rebuild...some shops will go the cheapest parts route possible on it, some shops will do a rebuild and do all known updates and issue points to prevent a future failure. I had AAMCO rebuild the transmission in my Bronco 2 a couple years ago, its doing great, shifts great too. They took the time to explain what the transmission normally has in it and what parts they put in it...they don't go cheap on the parts, they do it right, I paid more, but I know the transmission will be good for many years go come.

I had Aamco do a rebuild on a '85 Olds Delta 88 Royal Brougham with a slipped band. 85k miles 1 owner, I bought for $800 back in late 2000, my 88 was at the shop 8x before it jumped gear and I spun out around a curve, hit a hydrant and flipped. That transmission shop is the WORST!!! 2yrs later I got my ASE certs and learned full rebuilds myself. I'll NEVER recommend AAMCO for anything!!!

@@cdixon8431 Not all of them are bad, depends on who their mechanics are. My AAMCO did a great job with my transmission and some engine work I had done as well. Luckily mine just happened to have a retired Ford factory certified mechanic working for them too so he got to work on my Bronco 2 for me. Showed me all the parts they replace when they do a transmission rebuild, and it wasn't the parts that Ford used originally these were much better quality no plastic junk.

As for the steering issue, these trucks use the older style recirculating ball steering system. Has an old fashioned steering box with a pitman arm and idler arm. If you have to swap out the steering box, be prepared to fight with the pitman arm.

Great buy Al, I just purchased a 2005 1 owner Trailblazer for 1200 here at an auction in San Diego. Brand new Firestone tires on it, brand new shocks, even the oil was just changed, the only thing I had to do to it was have a keyfob made. Keep up the great work man 💪🤙

Lubricate the steering knuckle with some kind of lithium grease, had the same issue on my Sienna and it turned out the steering knuckle (joint) thing was binding

*I have 3 of these also an 04 EXT an 05 SUV similar to this one only in Bermuda blue metalic and an 06 EXT the same color as your trucks that "pearl white" tri-coat paint that;s expensive as all hell to repaint. i paid $240.00 for a pint of it in NY state at a friend's shop using his business discount price. not cool at all. but the truck looks AWESOME now. he had enough to repaint the patch he had to put in on the passenger side rear quarter the tailgate and around the gas cap on the driver's side too.(someone hit and ran in a parking lot here in Nashville) I have the 3 trucks as the header on my you tube page. My blue one (copart GA truck paid $1950 for) and the white one look the same as the pic but the wife's gray one has some deep dish monster wheels on it now, guess i need to update the pic. but yeah i LOVE the hell out of these trucks. of course i also have an 06 Dodge DIesel mega cab and a 99 tahoe still too. but the tahoe needs work paint is just blowing right off of that one. (damnit GM) I have the OEM radios in all of our trucks too and they jam pretty well. that bose system is really nice for a factory radio. i said if mine ever dies i'd replace it with an Excelon Kenwood or an Alpine but what went in mine was the Amp underneath the console and that was easy and cheap enough to replace. so i still have all the functionality of the factory radios. the touch screen nav radio i have is in my 05 SUV but when shopping the forums i learned you have to have the GPS Nav antenna an a special plug to install the Nav radio in a truck that didn't come with it from the factory. I've never actually tried it so of course i don't know how true that is or not but if i can fix the radios and keep paying while i'm driving, i'm good and the changer plays burned CD's so i'm good! Those seats are trashed wow! you know for like $300.00 on ebay you can get new covers for them. mine aren't that far gone yet so i just keep them treated with leather treatment and hope that's good enough. those wood grain pieces people are IGNORANT about charging for, i found some on Ebay ONCE about a year ago for $270.00 for the whole set and another one the same month that wanted $120.00 each for those. i couldn't believe it but i ended up getting 3 of the fronts 2 for my white truck and one for the passenger door of the blue one. guess i'm going to have to start doing like you said and run like hell to the junk yards every time they get one of them in to try and grab those. The head phones and remote i had to buy for my blue truck. it had the same DVD player in it that yours has but the headsets i got were out of a 2014 and they worked famously, the other 3 headsets i bought off of ebay and that's how i learned there are 2 different kinds you can have. they all look the same but only the 2010-2014 have the cadillac name on them the 2015 and 2016 do too but they are a different frequency and do not work with the older player like the ones we both have. As for the center caps on those wheels, My 05 has the same factory wheels and the center caps are the exact same ones that are on yours. they aren't replacements they are OEM and believe that's one of a few things you can still get from the stealership brand new. the crest yellows on all of them like that only the polished aluminum ones like what came on my 06 are the embossed wreath and crest. all the rest have the crest glued on and it yellows after only a short time. Funny you should mention the blend door issue. My 06 EXT has that very issue and i am fighting myself with trying the actuator first or just biting the bullet and tearing the dash apart. from what i've seen it's not that hard just consumes a lot of time doing the repair. HMM the balast om a set i got from a guy's 04 ESV is attached to the bottom of the light. haven't installed them yet i have some ebay LED and Halo lights rigged up aftermarkets on my 06 EXT and they weren't done right because the wires keep coroding and rotting off or burning in two. those lights use the H1 bulb and they look cool but they are total junk*

Congratulations. You are now the proud owner of plastic trim splattered with "UV crazing". Clean it with a good de-greasing solvent, wet sand the plastic smooth, de-grease it again and apply several new layers of Krylon UV resistant clear-coat. Works great (usually).

Oh son of the whatever. You did a great job in finding and still bargaining this truck. This is one of the few American cars that can go forever, with regular maintenance. Of course cheap parts, as you show for the luxury car. You can't expect this with any other luxury car, OK, may be Denali GMC (Sister car, under rebrand name). All I like to see is how you are going to fix that Rack or sterling pump and will it solve your turning problem. Show it and I would be even more envy! :) Enjoy bro.

Those have the cheapest part in them. A bit older or newer is where you want to target. But then good deals, come in every Shape, Size and Year model. Don't miss them when you see one.

2nd Momentum Garage I average 14 mpg with all of them and I live in the city so constant stop and go driving. When I take them on cross country trips I get 16mpg average. AWD is in all the 6.0 Escalades and the 6.0 is definitely worth having, it’s a powerhouse.

Not a bad looking Escalade for $1400...great work. I'm not a GM fan at all, but the trucks and Escalades, Tahoes and Suburbans aren't too bad, especially if you can get them with the larger V8 engines. A co-worker picked up a 2000 Yukon Denali about a month ago for $1400 its in great condition just has high mileage on it if I recall something like 230k on it, but he says it runs and drives awesome, took it to his mechanic and had it checked out...only issue it had was he doesn't think it ever had a tune up and the water pump was starting to leak a little so it got a tune up and water pump while it was there.

*Why do you ask people for suggestions of chemicals to make the thing look right when people tell you then you just get all confrotational and try telling them they are wrong even when they have manufacturer's proof otherwise. kinda like the Dexcool. Incidently Meguires #105 at harbor freight should fix you right up. that's a fungus that grows on paint surfaces in the South. we saw that a lot in Georgia too/ that radioi is crap but if it works it works. hopefully they used the right mounting hardware to put it in with. if you find one of the Nav radios they have to be programmed into the ECM before they'll work. those headphones may not be the right ones for that truck. I bought some for my 2005 that were from a 2016 escalde and there are 2 different kind you could have. both of them have the cadillac emblem on them. and those center caps are the right center caps. that truck like mine is the escalade "luxury" and that is the same ones that are on mine. only difference is mine is Bermuda Blue metalic really pretty when the sun beats down onit. i got mine from Savannah GA copart for $1,950.00 winning bid, $2,750.00 after fees. incidentally that same Meguiars #`105 will shine up those headlights really well for you again too. Yeah those wood trim's are a rare find, snatch them and run man. people want $250.00 on ebay for those on the extremely rare case that they do list them and these trucks are getting harder and harder to find in good condition. i happen to have 3 also an 06 EXT, An 04 EXT and an 05 SUV Luxury. the 05 and 06 are my personal vehicles and both of them need the trim too but i have it i just have to install it now. as far as your headlight always having the DRL on try pushing that pin next to the headlight switch and see if they shut off then. that's how i got mine to shut off finally. Never thought about skinning the seats before lol of course none of the yards around the Nashville area have any of those. i've just been buying everything new , including tires. i love discount tire for that brand new ones aren't nearly as cheap as what you paid but they aren't' as expensive as any of the other shops around here for new tires either* yeah you sucked me back in with the Escalade thing* that is also my passion because unless they've just been bashed all to hell they will go good and have plenty of power doing it too.
