Wow! That exhaust manifold leak fix was genius! My favorite car we had for a day growing up was a 1986 Chevy Camaro IROC. My parents returned it to the dealership for a friend who bought it and realized that they couldn’t afford it.

Ha - My wife has the same Escalade with the 22s you took off! It's the same deal - kids beat it up and we've had it forever, but it's been great. I spend time keeping my other cars (one's a red Corvette too, but mine's a C4) tip top, you're motivating me to finally install the seat covers I bought for her a year or two ago. She'll thank you!

With AC Delco "advantage" is their cheap line, "professional" is their quality line.
@Jim-mm5nd5 жыл бұрын
I'm starting to wonder about that. I maintain several GM vehicles and the prices I find on Amazon are way cheaper than any place else. I'm starting to think that most sellers on Amazon are selling counterfeit merchandise as I've had brand name parts fail in short order or appear out of the box as cheap as the Chinese junk, only at a higher price. I researched a little bit and it seems that is not an uncommon suspicion for name brand purchasers. Anymore it seems I have better success with steering and suspension parts from Autozone, Advance Auto, or Napa than I do parts from Amazon that come in OEM boxes.

Everyone needs at least one beater like this Escalade. I just realized that myself because with a car that you really care about you will get frustrated with all of the little things and it drives you crazy. I can't really enjoy the hobby of perfecting cars when the very same car needs to be driven daily just to remind me that there are some minor things wrong. 😁 Have to get a real, uninteresting shitbox just to do the daily driving.

Financially it doesnt make sense having two vehicles but ideally thats the dream shitbox for daily and nice one for the weekends

OTC- 6496 inverted pitman arm puller, you won’t have to pull the steering box, or you can remove the three bolts that hold the box to the frame, push it towards the firewall and turn it to where you can get a puller and an impact, did it with my 05 HD.

This video is fairly specific to certain people, but thank you for making it. I just sold my wife's newer Passat and got an 05 Escalade to cut out a car payment. Hers needs many of the same things you did to yours. I didn't know those active to passive rear shocks were available. Definitely getting those.

Looked to me like you could see the nut on the pitman arm link moving in relation to the tie rod when you steer back and forth like the tapered hole in the tie rod was wallowed out. If that is the case, this pitman arm will be junk shortly as well. Worth taking a look at..

I enjoyed that video thoroughly. We had an '03 Eddie Bauer Expedition that we loved like you love the Escalade. Unfortunately, a young BMW 3-series driver hit my wife and daughter on the freeway and rolled the thing. Everyone was okay, save for scrapes and bruises. Wife had a concussion. Now she drives a GL450. Love that beast also. Great video, the Pittman arm part was amazing. Thx!

Thank you so much for this video !! You’ve helped make my mind up ! I have same exact Escalade with 178k on it - and literally need same exact stuff - even airbag code which has been on for 3 months ! Literally same exact problems !! - went out looking at new cars yesterday - alllllllll daaaaayyyy- so I decided to try to figure out all that I’d need to do on Escalade to keep - because so way can I replace the feel ride and space of caddy on my teachers budget - my wheels are 17” can I switch to 20” with no problems ? Since I have to get tires anyway wanted to check - thanks again this video has saved me a shit ton of time and money - unfortunately I’m not skilled at all like you so will have to farm out almost all work - but still cheaper than buying car !

Had the same problem with frozen brake bolts on my 04 Silverado. Realized on the 2nd wheel the best way is actually a hammer. A few good taps with a hammer to the top and sides of the bolt head knocks the rust away and they come out *much* easier. You should replace the bolts anyway but it's 100% possible to use this method without damaging it.

I still have the ‘96 GMC Suburban that I bought new. Clothe upholstery still looks great at 190,000 miles, rear wheel drive for fewer possible problems. No rust living in California. I can’t imagine ever getting rid of it. Other vehicle is ‘14 Denali Crew Cab p/u. I believe in buying new, avoid 4 wheel drive, keep long term. I bought a new ‘84 Ford Ranger, kept it 19 years.
