I dropped into a Car Traders lots and bought this part exchanged Vauxhall Corsa from him for just £300! But is it any good?

Corsa C's are an excellent little car. Bought a 1 owner 31k miles FSH 1.2SXi 02 plate one for £500 over 6 years ago to teach my son to drive in. I went through it , brakes , exhaust, front suspension all replaced , cost next to nowt , good quality motor factor parts are dirt cheap for them. He passed his test in it, it's taken him to Newcastle and back home in Lancashire for 4 years during his degree and he still runs it now. I've kept the oil changed regularly, it now shows nearly 70k but still chugging away happily. Plenty of similar aged ones still going which speaks volumes for them. Far better survival rate than same age Fiestas

That Corsa SXI will make a cracking little car for someone. It's probably in the same league as some of the other little cheap cars you currently have (Chevy Spark, yellow Peugeot 107, hole in the roof Micra, green Micra, VW Up). I used to have a 2001 Corsa SXI 1.2 16v years ago and that was a nippy little thing, certainly quicker off the line than the later (probably bigger and heavier) Corsa's.

Ah brings back fond memories of my silver corsa SXI, most reliable car I had until someone crashed into me and it was written off cat S. I later found out it went through copart and someone put it back on the road for a few years.

I worked for Vauxhall at the time this car was registered. Many of them were sold on the 0-0-0 offer: £0 deposit, 0% finance, free insurance. It was such a great deal the cars practically sold themselves and we sold loads.

Those coil springs corroded mostly mean nothing.(unless actual damage is obvious) My Panda kept coming back with same thing for 3years after services n MOTs at dealership so when my service plan was finished at Dealership I took to another mech shop I trust and asked him to take alook. His answer was simple. It was water getting inside the plastic or w/e surrounding the springs n the rust would pop the plastic n break it so dealer would say corroded springs out of an abundance of caution n said my springs would last me a few more years n its been fine.

Would make a great commuter car especially if you have to leave it in a public car park . Keep the nice one at home. Great insight into how much ( or little ) there is in margins for traders. Could also be an opening in a relationship with a local dealer so all good.

Prices were going up on all Nova's and Corsa B/C however, they seem to have leveled recently. Ones with a history are going for strong prices though. Been looking for a decent B not a what I would call "Silly price", and there ain't any out there. Someone would prob still CK that up on Marketplace for the thick end of 2k private, seen some traders do it too.

The last time I saw an Alfa 155 not stacked on something else in a scrap yard was when I did work experience at the Alfa Specialist at Bideford Riverside in 1999. Nice surprise! Make sure the drivers carpet isn't wet. Corsa C's are prone to leak behind the brake servo and it's a pig to get at.

I had a 2006 Corsa (1.2 Twinport I think) as a loan car when my '94 Celica got hit by a bus around 2009. It was a sweet little car, every time I got out I had a grin on my face. Couldn't believe how much better it was than the misses's Ford Ka. Boot is a bit small though. Oh and the Celica is still going.

Great little car, first-time driver will love something like this. The OSF wheel arch trims are alway missing on these. Changing oil for 10W/40 may fix the slight chain rattle. My oldest son has black 1.2 Corsa C like this albeit a lower-spec ‘Life’ model - it’s so much better to drive than my younger sons 1.4 Corsa D. He bought it for £750 a few years ago and put a new chain in it, doubt he’ll have lost much if he sold it now

Not a bad little car. There are Vauxhall parts specialists/breakers in Devon - I'd get all the bits from one of them (including wheel centre caps) and maybe sell the car as a project after giving it a clean/polishing the scratches - ideal for a handy first time buyer who may become a repeat customer. I think that dealer did you a favour selling for only £300 and, as you say, it opens a door.

I have had 2 of these cars over the years hated them both only reason why i bought a second one was because a mate of mine was selling one £250 and i needed a cheap run around for a year it done the job. Check the driver and passager footwell for flooding the Corsa Model C is know for it , i had the wet footwell in both corsa C i had , it is a cheap fix with silcone gun but a bit of a pain in Butt to do. Just on the off chance it has the wet footwell , driver side will be either be the brake servo plate on the bulkhead seal has gone or the gasket between the servo and the plate has gone. Passenger side will be the fuse box in the engine bay.

Note this is the SXI+ - I believe this was the run-out model- virtually all the cars sold in the last few months of this model Corsa were this spec. Lots of them used as driving school cars if I remember correctly.

easy to spot driving school cars as they will have a full size spare wheel and either scuff marks on brake and clutch pedals from the duals or, another type we’re screwed into the passenger footwell with cables to the pedals. May also have a centre speed display if the speedo isn’t clearly visible from passenger seat.

As you say its cost you £300 for a new relationship which might yield some stock, the car isn’t worth the time, leaving it sitting for a while will introduce more problems. If its there after a month its probably better scraped, great content as always James 😉

I had one of them , a nice car but two main problems, can come with corsa c, cabin water feature, water getting in at each end of dash, brake servo seal at one end and module box at other, also module box can go wrong, like mine the window wipers wouldn't work, and had to get a new kit on e Bay for £60, thats engine management box, module box, immobiliser and clocks.

Even in scrappage down the breakers it would be £250 weighed in .So even if a lemon it's still a lead in to maybe other cars from the dealer wheel trim maybe from a breakers yard ?? Ideal for a newly passed driver They are fairly certain to put a few more scrapes on it

good little car for an at home flip but not viable for a business as your figures show, well explained, if i was local id have it haha Strange thing is the registration looks very similar to a black Corsa nearby me recently, doubt its the same car though, not knowing how old brook is it would be perfect for her to learn in and tidy up with some guidance but guess thats a few years off (Those corsa C's also love to let water in around the firewall seal around brakeservo and you get a wet footwell)

That was my car!!! Thrilled to see it has a bit more life than being scrapped as I adored having it, so it's nice to think someone else will enjoy it. One really annoying issue it has is the front driver side window bumping and not going up, especially in nice weather. Also, did I leave a Neil Young CD in the player?

Thanks for another interesting video. The car jobs exactly like when I sold a lot of tractors, the small stuff adds up quick and can be as much as 1 bigger repair. The dealers logic here in Canada with big machinery guys would be sell you one or 2 things you loose your shirt on and basically stitch you up so you go broke. They get no competition from small guys like us offering a used market for cheaper machines, and it makes selling new or high end used on finance a lot easier for them. I knew one dealer tried doing it to me, but I knew way more about the tractor than he figured I did. I'd of lost 20K on fixing and selling it,they put it in an auction 500 miles from here where they widely dump dealer network stuff and got less than half what they offered it to me for. If you got a few of those cheap type cars could you advertise a cheap as is corner, if they'll make money before you work on them it sells, if not price goes up as you sort it,some main dealers are doing it here on pick ups and cars, but the savings not really enough for me to do the work on 1 to keep for myself. Hour to clean it mate, chuck a test on it, bit of black paint on the gater and the springs, 11 quid advert on auto trader, if brakes mot OK they don't need cleaning out, oil change if oil looks bad, bit of touch up, your into it for 400 quid, 995 it, shut up about warranty, if it drives ok and it seems to do, that's it, cheap clean car for someone, you've made 600 quid, less taxes, no trouble, no comebacks, I've done 1000s like that mate, all you've done is just talk yourself out of it, can't understand why? Why take 500 quid for it, I fly round cheapies with some cif and the pressure washer, quick vac out, you seem to spend a lot of time on videos saying how great a car is, then the usual ending is oh I'll trade it, I mean that little cars great, just a couple of hours work, markets short of cheapies. I mean take a spring on that, there 15 quid bud, on the rear its a 10 min job to change.
