I’ve bought a Toyota Landcruiser HJ75 Series Troopy. In this short episode I give a quick run through the old girl before I drive her back home to the Gold Coast.

Those old rigs are far better in the long run compared to the newer more modern app Layden junk that gives you 'Error' messages as soon as you get in!

Mate. That’s the best $1500 + $3200 you’ll ever spend. I drove Troopy’s in the late 80’s on 4x4 tours all over 0z, most with a 2H donk. Slugs, but reliable, from freezing to baking. I’ve had my own’98 Troopy for 12 years. Designed & fitted out myself, with professional help. The ultimate independence vehicle. OK, so it may not be a chick magnet, but if you do get lucky, there’s plenty of room for getting deep into the heaviest bush, and getting back out! Good luck in your journey. Troopy’s rock.

I had to rerun that bit where you said the price to be sure cos you sure got a bargain! Mine is a 1988 landcruiser ute with alli tray and I've been offered $40k for it! Admittedly it's had a complete body and engine rebuild for its birthday every 15yrs, has zero rust, zero bog and runs l like a dream with the addition of the 1HZ which is the turbo engine from a later model sahara. And it's had a gearbox rebuild to now give it a lower first gear. Other than that mine is pretty standard as well with almost 750,000ks on the clock. I did a fair bit of 4x4 (without damage) and towed a large fully loaded two-horse float all over the place on a regular basis. But the most important thing about these older vehicles is they DONT BEEP AT YOU! You can actually be in charge of the driving and what is going on under the bonnet. I would not part with it for a million bucks. I don't need all that fancy stuff. It's got air, a cassette player and a radio! What more do I need? 🤣🤣🤣

Had an 86 troopy with a full lenghth "ridged" steel roof rack. Cracked both A Pillars just above the bonnet. Carefull,don't get a full lenghts R.R. and don't overload.

I bought a 1990 model for my safari business in 🇿🇦 but think it was Hz1 as well in 2015 fixed it up quite a bit but due to life circumstances had to sell it but was the best vehicle I've owned and miss it quit a bit especially since I did all the mechanical and suspension upgrades, but at least I did a epic Namibia and Kruger safari in it. Enjoy your project, you've got a classic 👊🏻 Doug

the one mod that has made the biggest difference to my 2H was a turbo. not just the power to sit at 100k/h BUT it is the fuel economy. doubled the distance I can travel.

Good buy. Plenty to learn on Ytube. Will Prowse for electrical. Plenty of Troopy builds on there as well. Draws look mechanically good. Freshen up with new carpet would be the go. All that storage and still a flat base to form a bed. Definitely some sound deadening, upgrade of those pathetic front speakers and an external sun visor and 3/4 way there.

I had a 1985 60 series and thought that was old. I got 750k out of her before it needed the head replaced. It was a 3f motor. Enjoy the process on the troopy m8. You got a bargin imo for this day and age.

That’s a bargain I brought a 93 model that needed some mechanical repair including general maintenance for sitting for 5yrs for $2500, I have now found some rust around the windscreen frame which I’ve just started to repair
