As a former IR tech and air compressor guy the hours CAN most certainly be that low. As odd as it sounds you would be surprised at how little use many of these portable machines get. A good way to "eyeball" the machine is to look in the fuel tank and see how much sediment and dirt is in the bottom, well used machines are usually pretty dirty.

Something to pay attention to in the future, for solenoids, specifically the fuel solenoid for this engine, you should not use all 3 wires continuously. A 3 wire solenoid will have 2 positive and 1 ground. One of the positives will be the pull circuit which use higher amperage to pull open. Once open, the other positive will be used to hold the solenoid open until power is taken away, then it closes. When you figure out the pull/hold wires, wire the hold/ground straight to battery, then touch the pull momentarily to the positive post. Keeping the pull circuit energized for extended periods of time will burn up the solenoid. Edit: just finished the video, lol you found out what happens.
@BradenBuildz3 ай бұрын
That’s what happened I’m sure. The red wire was probably the wire that carried the hold power and green wire was the jump power

100 percent correct. You posted before I could. The Pull coil has a very low ohm measurement and the Hold coil may be 30ish ohms. I can't remember the exact resistance value. They're all a bit different
@FOHGeekАй бұрын
One easy way to use these 3-wire solenoids is to connect "pull" wire to the starter's trigger terminal and "hold" wire to the switched positive line. When the ignition key is hit, the short-term electrical signal activating the starter will also cause the solenoid to activate at the same time. After starting, the pull coil will be de-energized so that it won't be on fire and flames. Once the key's turned all way off, power going to the hold coil will be cut, causing the solenoid to release and shut off the fuel. Also, normally-closed contact of safety sensors (e.g. oil level sensors, thermal protectors, overpressure cutoff switches, E-stop buttons) can be wired in series of the "hold" coil to form an automatic protection mechanism.

When you connected the pull wire and hold wire of the coil i knew its going to burn. 5 minutes later the smoke comes out. HOLD with high ohm value gets permanent power and pull in with low ohm gets power from starter coil. Unhook the belt if your running it dry. Your burning the water pump seal. .

I very much enjoyed the explanation you gave of the fuel pathway - I want to know and understand engines and mechanics - so this is great. Approaching things with confidence like this, and not a fear of making mistakes is what encourages others to get their hands dirty - even though you did not want to. Only tip. It took me 30+ years to learn the value of gloves, its easier, faster, and more feeling without them - but get into the habit early. Nothing wrong with a pair of sunnies either if your not going to wear eye protection. Got plenty of one eyed mates - great job.

Why didn't you just start it while all connected? It was mounted, you had fuel and coolant. Just needed a battery and jump the starter. Could have run it as long as you wanted for testing. Some of those have 3 wires. Ground. Pull in. Hold. It uses more power to pull it in, but needs less once pulled in so it switches to other coil.
