Be sure to check the oil pump! Those 3.7 oil pumps tend to be a weak point in those and will starve the engine without any warning lights. Ask me how I know lol

If that guy put too much oil in that'll make it smoke, you should change the oil to be safe as there will be too much pressure build up and it could potentially blow some seals.

The 3.7 V6 and 4.7 V8 are great engines if they are taken care of. The knows you are hears on state is most likely failed hydraulic lifters. Very easy job. The oil pans on those are painted stamp steal. They rust and weep oil. Not the easiest job to replace. The front crank shaft seal will also leak. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I am restoring my late mums 2005 4.7l and have many third gen grand Cherokee customers

The stains on the seat are typical. They’re made from a soy based material that reacts to pretty much anything and leaves the white residue. My wife’s 05 Liberty had the same issue. The trick is too clean then with a water and oxi clean solution over the entire seat. Then take a shammy to pull the water from it. Park it in the sun to let them dry out and the seats will look like new.
@robs18523 жыл бұрын
Are they soy based so incase you get stranded on an offroad adventure, you can eat the seats and not starve to death?

Looks like a great rig to fix up! Fixed and sold a few of those, seems like they all, at some point, had busted manifold bolts and leaking exhaust out them. If memeory serves that was a huge issue of at leat the 5.7 hemis and 4.7Ls, prolly similar for the 3.7. Ttanny cooler lines seem to always leak at the rubber/steel junction All of that is pretty straight forward to fix too, especially for a guy that knows the way around a wrench! @@ARuralVermonterQqjmcb182 I'm sure this thing eats oil, all high mileage 4.7/3.7's do it. Valve steam seals just get old and let oil through. Too bad that thing wasnt a 4.7, IMO they are the better motor. But they eat oil pretty slow IMO. Also if its leaking oil, its probably from the valve cover. I would bet big money this is where most of the oil is leaving the engine. My 4.7l would rarely leave a drop on the ground but you could smell it getting burnt off of the exhaust manifold when you park it. Mine was pretty bad when I got rid of it, but at that point it had over 200k. These Jeeps can last a long time if taken care of, just dont let them overheat.

Not a fan of Jeep’s anymore. Had a CJ-8 back in the 90’s and it was a pretty good rig until I blew the motor, sold it for triple what I paid for it in 2001 as is. The new owner put a crate 350 in it and I see it around town every now and then.

These aren't bad vehicles, but the WK (third-gen) Grand Cherokee is the worst Grand Cherokee Jeep has ever made... the interior is fairly cheap, seats are uncomfortable (even with leather), and they are prone to some issues. We had one for 11 years and 211k miles with the 4.7L V8. It ran until the day we traded it in on a 2014 Grand Cherokee WK2 (in 2016), but it was on its way out.
