The “diablo” decals are covering up the port on the ECU that was used when actual physical chips were installed on them to tune it. If you want to tune it using a flash tuner, take that off and make sure there isn’t a chip on there, otherwise it’ll override anything that is flashed on there. The other thing to keep in mind is that the SCT MAF you got with the new motor needs to be tuned for as well, it’s not plug and play. The upgraded MAF is important, just a pulley and a cool night can max out the OEM MAF
@TwentytenS4B8

I got $15 that says that Diablo tune is what roached his old engine. I posted a comment above that it would be wise to get a proper dyno tune once the new engine is installed and verified working with no codes. I've seen first hand what a bad tune can do to an engine at my friend's shop. He has an Audi RS3 engine with inspection ports in the side of the block made by an exiting connecting rod done by, you guessed it a bad tune. Fluid Motor Union has a dyno and could fix him up.

Seriously, back in the very early 00s I had a black 1992 Acura Integra with bronze 16" Rota Slipstreams that I had done a bunch of engine work to and I pieced together a turbo kit from almost all junkyard parts. I got the turbo manifold from SSAutochrome eBay back in 2003 before they started selling cheap turbos, I paid $50 for a used Dodge Daytona T3 turbo, I paid $50 for a used front mount intercooler, I fabricated the downpipe and charge piping out of exhaust tubing, $75 for a set of DSM 440cc injectors, $100 for a Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump, a buddy of mine let me use his old Zdyne Gold SECU that he had in his EF Civic that he totaled, and I had the turbo's oil feed and drain lines made by a hydraulic shop. It went on to make 288 whp at 14 psi...without head studs. We used to drag race down the highway on the weekends back in the day and my car was one of the fastest once I put drag radials on the front. The only vehicle that could ever really edge me out was a 2002 Lightning that was a manual trans. He really used to piss me off because he would always brag about it afterwards and call my car Jap Scrap. He had alot of money in his truck though. It was black with 20" chrome wheels.

I had an 02 that I wrecked into a guard rail missing a head on accident when a ford excursion swerved into my lane. This was in 08 so insurance totaled it. I bought it back and me and a buddy rebuilt it over 2 years. I drove it for another year then sold it to the friend who helped me rebuild it. He still has it today and it is completely restored. Hated to let it go, but it’s one of those deals where if you were going to, this is how you’d want it to be.

I would say those were my cats that weren't cats but I took downpipes & cut the skin off my cats then welded them over top of the downpipes. Looked just like I had cats. 😜 We have state inspection in Virginia so you do what you have to do here. I had those Granetali or something like that coils on mine. I forget how to spell it. It was so long ago. I always shopped at Lightning Force Performance back in the early 2000's. I don't know if they are still around or not. No problems at all with those coils.

They key restriction from stock to making real power after mods is the cams, of course you gotta add heads, etc. My friend made 750/775 with foxlake heads, custom cams, 2.6 Kenne Bell. 60 lb injectors and dual pumps. It put down 350 stock on the same dyno.

i mean the lightning 5.4 and shelby gt500 5.4 and 5.8 are the same they are just an aluminum block engine with 4 valve cylinder heads which you can still swap over to 2 valves and all work the same

Alex that hole in the intake was used for a dry shot of nitrous.

I'm pretty sure that intake gasket works on both sides, so when it gets rotated around to the other side, that coolant passage that's exposed, lines up with the passage on the front of the opposite cylinder head.

On a serious note.... I am an AMAZON junkie, but the last few months I have browsed eBay motors and actually found WAY better prices for parts and options for my Audi and my wifes VW Atlas. All I can say is that I am very impressed with Ebay lately.............

Peter is the type of cool guy that hangs with you; talk about cars while you work on your car. believe it or not it gets boring if you’re on your own working on your car for several hours just talking to yourself. Lol .

With these 4 thread heads it probably isn't too tight. Factory spec is around 15lbs. Torque them to 23lbs to avoid any spark plug blow out issues. Ask me how I know...

I hope the body fits on the chassis when it's time. Body flex can occur if it's off the chassis too long.

The re-install will be great! I am so keen to see how the Lightning performs with this stock engine with the supercharger it came with compared to the one that came with the lightning when you bought it. I am certain you did some performance runs! Even if you didn't you have to do some and compare it with the rebuilt engine.

When you were removing the plugs, they looked like only 4-5 threads were actually going into the heads based on the view of cleaner threads vs dirtier from being outside the head.
