TILT FOOT DOWN WHEN CRANKING. There is a driveshaft in there that spins consistently with engine. Cranking while tilted up could snap U-Joints or tear bellows. Also there is rubber water pump impeller in foot, it will tear to pieces if ran dry. Source: Owner of multiple shitty watercraft vehicles.

Also if you’re trying to keep that thing don’t put it in gear out of water, don’t run it without water but im sure you know that, and when full throttle you can trim up and gain speed just don’t trim too high it’ll start bouncing and get sketchy
