Was watching your video and heard a cell phone chime. I'm home alone and it sounded like it was coming from our bedroom(I'm in the man cave room). So, I called the wife and asked her if she had left her phone at home....she hadn't. So, I proceed to do an armed walk through to clear the house. And then it dawned on me. It's coming from the computer and your video. LOL. Great video and a steal for that car!

+ Hayden UK 18 It's an interesting show car left as-is. To be realistic, the fire and heat has destroyed the metal at the molecular level and there is no strength left in it. Leave it alone or salvage the good parts and scrap it.

@@candle86 all I say it tells a story. Though I am a fan of clean new paint on a redone classic. The patina tells the history of the car. It would be cool to see it repainted
@candle86
@candle86 3 жыл бұрын
@@2koolchris291 it may, but do you tell your wife to keep wearing that ratty old dress and falling apart shoes because it tells a story, or do you take her out and buy her a new dress and new shoes so she knows you appreciate her. Same with a car, do you appreciate the car, do you value it, then give it the love and attention it needs, treat it like a lady and it will give you years of loyal service, spray clear over rust though because "patina" and watch it continue to deteriorate because you didn't actually correct the problems, and because of its condition you can't tell if the clear coat you applied is damaged and letting that rusty metal get exposed again. A rusty car is fine in a beater you don't care about, but if you care about that car, get her a new dress.

What has been done to the frame, suspension, disc brakes??? Is it a one piece or two piece frame??? The frame alone is worth the money you paid. I just sold a rolling frame that I ground on with a Harbor Freight angle grinder. I go thru at least 1 grinder. prime and paint. This one I did in high gloss. It went to Idaho. The couple were stunned. It was for a driver and they said it was better than what was under their show car.They are considering a frame swap.

That car has so much potential. Body looks like there's zero rust plus the fire looks like it didn't compromise the medal at all either. I know here on the east coast you could flip that as is for a heck of a lot more then you paid for. Personally I would never part with my 55. It has been my unicorn since I was old enough to talk and when I got my hands on one I will never let go of it. Heck I loved 55's at such a young age I thought it was called a 55 because that's how fast it would go and when you're little 55 is fast 😂

Bendix is the type of drive system in the starter, but it is the solenoid on top of the starter that actually causes the starter motor gear to engage with the flywheel. If the solenoid goes bad the starter can turn but never engage the flywheel.

Trying to take that hood off solo, lol. I can't tell you haven't worked on one of those beasts before. I had a 57 that had been sitting for eight years that I paid $500 for. I towed it to a gas station after I bought it. I put a battery in it, aired up the tires, put some gas in it, and drove it home (the previous owner sold it because they did not know how to put gas in it, lol). I eventually had to do the brakes, tires, and put a fuel pump in it. Other than that, she was good to go. You can't kill those cars.
