I welded up the sear on my pocket flintlock but didn’t harden it, it worked perfectly for a while, now my hammer doesn’t lock all the way back like it used too and my trigger is now forward too much, I’ll have to reweld my sear and harden it this time. After you hardened the mainspring and the trigger wasn’t touching , I thought for shure you were going to weld up the rear of the trigger and file flat to make it touch the spring. ,,,,I’ve taken out a-lot of very corroded seized percussion nipples, what works every time for me is , I wrap the pistol in tinfoil then cover it with a thick cloth with only the nipple sticking out, then I weld a nut onto the nipple and while it’s still red I use a socket and turn nipple back n fourth till it threads out, Your videos are great, thanks for the useful content , I will definitely be sending you come coffee $$ soon through your link

@@Kev-N42000 No, I heat the trigger from the bottom with a small torch until the tip is pale blue, then quench it. You can find the BMC link in the description of any of my videos. Thanks.

Ok good to know , I thought the sear would be hard like glass and shatter if used with just a quench, I thought it had to be tempered like a spring

Just thought I would give you my method of removing frozen nipples. I first drilled it out to the largest Whitworth threading size the nipple could accommodate (I used Whitworth threads because they where the coarsest for their size) then screw in a correct size bolt with a loose nut, then tighten the nut down tightly on top of the nipple. From here you can heat the bolt far hotter than you could while the nipple is in the gun without the bolt. Also this method transfers the heat directly to the nipple threads then turn the bolt with a spanner or grips to remove the nipple, when all other methods failed this never did.

Morris do you have a drawing of the hammer and trigger of a hidden trigger system? I cannot visualize the folding cut after full cock and the contour to let the trigger engage again when cocked.
