Now that one looks like a decent buy. Even though the interior is rough, the lower unit being good, and the engine being solid makes it a good deal. Congrats Jason and crew.

If the hull is gelcoat, it will buff back and look great. You will need to wet sand and then do a multi-stage buff, but it is amazing the results you can get.

Thanks bro, and team, I was anxious wanting to see good action while the parts for the 401 arrive, this episode was almost emotional, I like so much aviation but I began with loving the ocean. This one was one of the best episodes of the channel. I think both aviation and navigation on waters are an ideal couple, I don't like much at all terrestrial vehicles.

That was amazing deal! Please dont wrap it or paint it because you can revive that gelcoat to look like brand new. Use trizacts from 500, and go up 1k,2k,3k,6k and sandpaper it with water and then cut then finishing paste for polishing, trust me its gonna look like brand new, get seats redone and foam for floor and its gonna look 80% better

Pull your spark plugs, inspect for rust on the compression side. If rusty, there's water intrusion, which is normal for the age. Inspect manifolds and risers. They're probably shot. A compression test is mandatory. These ol Mercruiser I/O engines rarely ware out. What's ruins them is leaky manifolds and risers. A compression test will tell you what's going on. Cheers! Love the content!

It's much easier to give stuff the once over for the cameras and pretend he is going to restore it than actually spending time and money doing it. He still gets the views! What he should do is scrap these old yachts with sledge hammers and chainsaws and break them up with an excavator. That would get him big views with minimal outlay.

Pretty excited to see what you have planned for this boat. I had the same boat but it was a 2004 model and with a fuel injected MerCruiser in it. It was a awsome boat but the bay we live in here in Australia was all salt water and super choppy which didn't suit the hull shape which is more suited to flat lakes and unfortunately and the salt water ended up starting to kill the headers due to the lack of a heat exchange awsome boat though we do miss it

@RebuildRescue, Jason I’m not sure what the beef is with some people and their complaints. From as I understand it, your channel is called Rebuild Rescue right? Or did it originally say 401 rebuild rescue? I don’t recall it ever being titled in such a way. I’ll stick around as I understand aircraft especially the older ones take more time than a week (sarcastic) to rebuild. I get it is a parts nightmare and so I’ll go through the video if it’s not of a particular topic I’m interested in then I’ll fast forward or skip it. I feel that’s ok and reasonable. You stay you and carry on doing what you do regardless of the individuals that are here and only interested in the 401.
@WildWabbit31224 ай бұрын
I think the 401 project lured a lot of people onto this channel including me. For a while there was a 401 video each week which I think set an expectation in some people's minds that that would continue. Then it got to the point where Jason started to flip old abandoned aircraft in order to come up with more revenue to spend on the 401 project and other things. Two or three weeks might pass without a 401 video. Last year Jason got an abandoned motor yacht And had a couple of episodes on that which really interests me and still does. But now he's kind of diluting the boats like he did with the aircraft where he's introduced two more boats in the last week. Like you, if the weekly video doesn't interest me I will just not watch it or skip through it real quick. As with all KZbinrs, they can upload whatever content they want to and then we make a decision if we want to watch it or not.

I think keep original motors with the original boat is the best way to go! The yaught motor should be rebuilt. It gets to be a big pain in the butt, when you start pulling two engines instead of just one! Then things don't fit right its just more time more money. Yadda, Yadda, yadda. You end up finishing one boat & the second one sits in the parking lot for another ten years! Fix & Sell & put money in other projects! 😊 I know I had a dad that did the rescue stuff with cars! 😂 Nice to see the boat in the water!!!

Well, this SeaRay was a great boat at one point in time. Boats retain their value if properly maintained. I've had many boats over time and after the first pleasure boat I stuck with Glastron. I seldom lost any value because of the appreciation and the cost of the new boat. To really enjoy a boat you have to pay cash for it. Making payments on a boat is misery. Man, good deal on that one! I will bet you right now that the gelcoat can be resurrected. I took wet sandpaper ( I think I used 1000 grit) and got the oxidation off and then used compound and polish to restore my boat's finish. It takes a lot of work, but you have an indoor spot in the shade to work on it. It will come back. So you said you have 2 custom built big blocks...why not put them both in the Yacht and make the world's fastest yacht? I think that would get some clicks. If you want to make the Sea Ray faster, there are a bunch of ways to do that. I just hate to see you break up a pair of matched engines. I don't know about the rest of your viewers, but I like the boat content too. It is summertime and boats are great fun once you get them right.

Long shot that you see this, but can you make a short video going over great websites or places to order parts from? I am new to boating. My wife and I inherited a 1989 Wellcraft Antigua cruiser boat after her father passed last year. We just picked it up this month and it’s been sitting since at least 2012-2015? Nothing was wrong with it prior. New trailer and new engine before it was parked. I don’t know a whole lot about boats, my experience is more geared toward rigs and automotive. So I really enjoy your videos because it helps me know what to look for. That last video before this where you bought that cruiser boat for a good deal and got it running, that’s essentially the same size boat we have now. So it was really nice to see all the ins and outs of different things about the boat. I like to learn. Where does a guy get parts for these old boats though? Thanks!

I knew that was unrealistic, but at least they showed up and shared the journey with attendees. Did they even participate this year? I don't mind the other rescue projects, but we're seeing less and less of the 401. A lot of the following was generated from that project. At the least they could provide an update and mention what the delay is or what parts they're waiting on to continue within each episode. If they need to complete other projects to generate cashflow, then tell us. I used to eagerly wait for Saturday morning's update. I'm beginning to question if it will ever leave the runway again.

Those big yachts aren't built for speed so much as they are efficiency and endurance. She's probably already hull-speed limited to what's already in her or going to be in her so upping the horsepower is just going to unnecessarily add to the fuel bill. *For the uninitiated, hull-speed refers to the limit of how fast a given hull can go, it's one of those trade offs that nautical engineers/designers have to contend with when designing a new boat. At some point, no matter how big an engine you put in it won't be able to go past the hull-speed.
