Hi there. Greetings from the west of Ireland. I had a 2007 model, pre facelift. 1.6 petrol. Great engine from Nissan and not the Renault diesel. My wipers packed up and I had to replace the motor. Your mechanic may turn off the airbag light off but my guess is that it’ll reappear, like mine did. I had to replace the clockspring on the centre of the steering wheel. Second hand parts are not recommended because they will inevitably fail also, so I repaired with new. I ran it for another few years. It failed the NCT (MOT) on a corroded rear subframe. I had it welded but it only lasted a year and failed the following year, when I finally scrapped it. Testers in Ireland specifically examined the subframe as it was a known issue. If your car is from the NW of England, I suspect it’ll have similar issues due to the road salt. They were a fine car for their time, but are getting rare on the road now due to so many being uneconomical to repair. If I were you, I’d scrap that one. It’ll only break your heart!
@smithyhouses1006 ай бұрын

I had the seven seater version of this car bought new in 2011 and sold last January with 206,500 miles on it. A common fault is the turbo intake pipe which is a plastic unit that snaps in half, in my case every two years on average. Its an easy 5 minute fix for a DIY mechanic but I started carrying a spare one in the car after getting stranded 20 miles from home and waiting 4 hours for a tow truck as the car had gone into limp mode and then shut down. Rear wheel bearings are also fairly common issues and I had to replace both of mine twice over the lifetime of the car. Apart from routine maintenance (which I do myself every 6,000 miles), I had no other issues with it. Yes its a boring car but as I have 5 kids, the seven seats were needed. Oh and it was also very economical and I averaged 50mpg.

@@damcyk4 Thing with the Qashqai, especially the J10 though the J11 isn't great for it either, in inclement conditions like a damp twisty rural road it feels like it is on the edge - like it is about to get away from you due to the high centre of gravity and suspension setup, etc. while it actually handles it better than it feels it is quite unnerving. People (or at least used to) tend to think of an SUV as something suited to using in more rural areas, etc. but stuff like the 4Motion Tiguan do that much more reassuringly. Sadly most of the mainstream "SUVs"/crossovers are just a regular car lifted a bit and if anything less suited to the kind of use you'd think an SUV was intended for.

Bashed in near-side, mismatched tyres and an interior full of short & curlies. Matt, you know how to pick 'em! 😂

Hi Matt, have you ever had a previous owner contact you about your comments on the condition of the car you made on your initial inspection? Or have you heard nothing since they are too embarrassed to defend their cars condition? Great video-watch them all. I even bought a Toyota Aris (as boring as hell) based on your evaluation of cheap reliable cars under £5k. Cost me nothing so far other than servicing so thanks. But one day it has to be a Jag on the driveway! Cheers Carl

To a mechanic its a doddle to do the balljoints and track rod end, same goes for the wiper motor and freeing up the rear brake. The tyres would be the most expensive part tbh (I won't put chinese tyres on anything, false economy given mid range stuff like nexen or uniroyal won't cost much more). I've never liked cashcows really, dacia duster is better imho. Not seen you sell any pickups in a while, I guess they're not that common though

I have to agree with you on this Nissan Matt. I’m not a fan either. Generally, I detest Nissan’s and their CVT transmissions we get stuck with in the US!!! Their horrible!

Sell it spares or repairs as if someone can fix the mechanical issues themselves it's not that expensive to sort, pads, discs, a load of ball joints and a wiper motor along with a few part-worn tyres £300 tops

When an airbag light flashes, it has codes, needs repair. Wiper linkage, seizes on those...scrap it.

The airbag light is a common issue on Nissans, it is usually the connector under the seat that has a contact problem.
