Underrated cars. They suffer from the perception that they're just a stretched Qashqai. In reality they're altogether more refined and relaxed cars with a less sporty, more relaxed character. Also more dependable (the QQ was built in the UK, the XT wasnt). The trim level you have (ntec, i think) there is the one you want - all the goodies except the over firm leather seats and illogical 19" alloys of the Tekna. The 1.6 engine copes rather well with the car's bulk and is darn economical, and you have the 7 seats. This will sell all day long.

I've always been a bit puzzled by the X-Trail - it is like it wants to be a light off-road/utility vehicle but it definitely isn't. Though I do like the look of the new one - if they'd paired it up with something serious engine wise and tougher duty suspension, etc. I'd have probably bought one - I'm struggling to find something which hits the spot as a replacement for the old Pathfinder (R51).

They share a chassis with Renault (and the diesel engines come from the latter) but the X trail is Nissan, including all the petrol engines, the gearboxes, the 4WD mechanics. The X trail was developed in Japan by Nissan. The Renault Koleos is the Renault version, but this too was developed by Nissan and built by Renault Korea. My car has Yuasa on the battery. I have one of these, also with 100k on it. So long as you change the oil every 10k miles and not as per service schedule 18k miles they'll be fine. They like a long run once in a while, and like all diesels hate stop start traffic. It's got 128hp by the way. You probably should check the timing end oil seal, as I suspect that's leaking at that age. And while there change the timing chain and tensioners. Normal interval is 180k miles for that. Finally, if its a bit sluggish to start when cold, change the glow plugs. They are as boring as chuff, but they do what you want them to, all day long.
