For the stone chip issue, personally I'd take detailed photo's of paintwork condition pre-painting and tell potential clients how you had it resprayed for saleability. It's money they don't have to spend, so a selling point, but some "before" photo's would calm those nerves.

Do not underestimate the running cost of a porsche. Mate of mine bought a 4.8 and his first service, at an independent dealer mind you, was 4000€ Add to that insanely high insurance costs and the thirst of the engine and you got yourself a nice bottomless pit to throw your money into. I would have carefully photographed the car before painting and then had the whole front and bonnet done. That way you show that it was not bent or rebuilt but has been refreshed…and it has done a lot of miles! A friend bought a one owner Mercedes CL500 with full, detailed, documented history and 205,000 miles..it needed a good clean and detail plus the transmission lever kept jamming due to a fractured plastic guide on top of the gearbox..but it was £1100 complete. That part was £42 but fitting it is utter misery and normally a gearbox out job but a weekend of naughty words and invention plus a full deep clean and refurbished wheels made it look and drive like new! He still has it six years later!!
@peterthwaites58912 жыл бұрын
I`m definitely with you on the looks, there really isn`t a good angle, love the interior! As for the paintwork? it`s not a new car by a long way so providing it`s well touched in, followed as you did by a buff and detail would be the way i`d always go, it keeps the car honest and looking "right for the age/mileage", someone looking for perfection is most likely looking for a low mileage car...

I think you did the right thing leaving the bonnet considering it’s mileage - let the new owner decide plus it probably would have stood out if chips had remained on the bumper (unless that was fully repainted?) and wings. But if you had chosen to, surely some recent “before” pics would have allayed any prospective buyer’s fears of the fresh paint hiding anything more sinister? I’m not sure why more dealers don’t do this, as fresh paint always raises suspicion. Time and effort obviously a factor I’m sure.

You were definitely right to not paint the bonnet. I had the bonnet of my old P38 repainted because the lacquer had started to peel, as I thought that it would massively de-value the car when I sold it. The new paint ended up being so much better than the rest of the paintwork, which was fine ; but the new buyer never saw the value in this expense and still tried to squabble every pound off that he could …. In Reference the paint quandary , originality is always king for discerning buyers but of course is always the stick they will try to batter the price down with . One answer is to photograph the stonechips before the repair which will satisfy most people if they bring up the issue , alternatively have a set price for both options . I think it depends on the car too ... run of the mill cars its better to just paint and be done with ... special stuff maybe do one the above ? .. one specific car is Lotus , with the problems with osmosis on the glass fibre many buyers are put off by any respraying as it could be covering serious issues rather than just stonechips .
@10beerman2 жыл бұрын
As a distrusting of dealers / stealers kind of buyer, I'd prefer an original but "touched up" (can I say that?) bonnet, yes the bumper is no doubt stapled together and filled, however the original 'chips' will make it easier to move on when I'm bored of it.

An excellent 'after' video, Matt, which allows the viewer to share in your project dilemmas... I agree that I'd rather see the amended stone chips on the bonnet, rather than the respray job which would inevitably provoke anxiety about the original condition... Whilst I like much about the Panamera, albeit only the ones with the 'living room look' in cream leather and woody trim, I tend to feel it's a bit out of my class and potentially, very expensive to run as a daily drive... @T16MGJ2 жыл бұрын
Popping to the shops here in the UK could mean a whole five mile round trip. In larger continents like AUS and USA, a trip to the shopping mall could involve a trip over two hundred miles in total. That way the mileage soon piles up. I used to travel much in my job back in the 1960/70s. British built private and company supplied cars clocked up miles over 100,000 and the cars were reliable. Freeway Motorway miles are less stressful on all car components provided the car is well maintained and driven sensibly. Good looking car the Panamera to my old minces.

For the stone chips question as a buyer I would say just touch up, keep it honest. know the price to fix it and then the buyer can do that themselves. By explaining the situation and giving a price of roughly what it will cost them I would feel that's preferable. If you have a good relationship with the body shop why not ask them to do a quote in writing, honour it for 30 days and give this to the buyer as part of the deal. The body shop is then still getting the business from either High Peak or new owner and you are feeding your trade contacts work rather than the seller looking for someone else to fix it.

Looks like a very good deal for you and a new buyer; I think I would overlook the high mileage, as a buyer, Porsches can wear it, and appreciate the high spec.

07:30 love how you parked next to a horse's ass, resembling the beauty of the panamera xD

fantastic ! I really want one of these so a video on them is perfect. I like the look of them . big bruisers that have a totally unique style . far more interesting that most high end sports execs

Grate video - would be even better if you let us know how much it sold for. Keep up the great work.

@@HighPeakAutos New BMW and MINI models due to limited availability are selling briskly majority prior to arriving on the lot. It has been also been a phenomenal time for preowned sale but this month preowned sales seem to be cooling off. Seems like those that can buy have already ordered a new one or purchased a pre owned one and others are holding. How about you guys?

@@BenBrooksSellsCars that’s interesting. That’s exactly the same for us. We only sell used cars and it has been a very busy 24 months, but this month has slowed right down. In fact it’s my quietest month on record. There’s lots of instability at the moment with rising fuel prices, Ukraine, rising inflation etc… I think people are playing it safe. Hopefully next month will improve. All the best

Wow, the exhaust note was awesome. Well worth the road noise problem to be able to hear that. Nice car from the inside 😁😁

Use the paddles, treat it like a stick. I own a 2016. It changes the dynamic completely

Great vid and right choice not to repaint the front bonnet Now you have more margin to reduce should the new owner want it repainted Hope you sell it faster than the Aston Martin

£1590 to get a Panamera up to forecourt standard sounds pretty reasonable to me. As for the mileage, if it's motorway miles and had scheduled servicing there shouldn't be a problem. Still looks better from the inside though.

A friend of mine in the US had one. When I visited him it was being serviced at the local Porsche dealer and he asked me if I wanted to go with him to collect it and drive it home for him. We went there in his truck, me thinking I'd follow him at a leisurely pace. After paying the bill (a cool $5k - I peeked over his shoulder) he gave me the keys. While I was acquainting myself with the Porsche my mate got into his truck and zoomed off. I only had a vague idea of the directions home and had to drive the Porsche like I stole it, through evening rush hour traffic in Oklahoma City, all the while my botty was doing an impression of a sprinting jellyfish. I managed to get to his house then disgraced myself by scraping the rims against the high curb as I parked it - he was very gracious about but it cost me a bottle of good bourbon 😄

Hi Matt I think you made the right decision on the bonnet keeping the car honest and genuine Also the rear end on these is hideous but some people like the Kardashian’s for there rear so it’s all about personal taste, I think you know what camp I’m in 👍

Great vlog as always Matt but I think your a little light on your projected price that you mentioned, add another 2k and you'll still have plenty of interest.

Good deal, and I think you’ve gone the right way about preparing it.

Thing is with these, they’re great to drive and are practical (ish) but remember you can’t see the outside from the inside if you know what I mean …
