Fantastic Review. I just wish I saw this before I bought my Panamera Turbo. First week of ownership, my coolant pipe essentially detached while I was driving on the highway. All the coolant leaked out and engine overheated. Searched for this issue online, apparently it's a very common issue in not only the Panamera, but also Cayennes. Needs new thermostat, thermostat housing, and coolant lines. 3.5k. Fast forward a year, the air suspension failed in the front. The car was sitting on the struts and could not be driven. I took the car to my independent mechanic to be fixed. I thought I'd save some money with re manufactured struts. Do NOT EVER buy re manufactured struts. Long story short, the reman struts were defective and caused a short in my car's electrical system. After 5 months of diagnosis and repairs at my indy, the car is finally working. I replaced 2 front air struts, air compressor, control module, value block, suspension senors, and fuses, all OEM. The total cost? 9k at an indy shop. Oh and I forgot to mention. Look up this issue, error message "chassis system failure. It's littered across the internet. Air suspension failure is inevitable in these cars. The original parts were not made to last. Porsche updated their air struts parts 3 times since the first model year. Do I love driving this car? Sure, while it works. Is it worth the 15k I have in repair bills in under 2 years? That's food for thought for anyone thinking of picking up one of these used cars for cheap. Oh and btw, my car had 35k miles, was never in a prior accident, and had been warrantied throughout its life by the last owner.

I bought a Porsche Panamera Turbo about 18 months ago. It had 44k miles on it. The car was beautiful and the maintenance records from the dealer looked good. I thought it was smart to purchased an extended car warranty from CarShield for $6,300 for good measures. It was an absolute false sense of security. Horrible mistake. 3 months later the cam adjusters on the engine self-destructed. The Porsche dealer said it will cost $4,200 to repair them. I happily called CarShield thinking "good thing I got that policy." Them m!&f!#s denied the claim. OMG! They said they don't cover anything that associated with broken bolts even if it was a covered part. What??! I had to fix it out of pocket. 2 weeks later the Coolant sensor went out. A $900 repair. Them "blankety blanks" denied that too. In essence, NOTHING is covered, because the fine print gives them the right to deny just about anything. You can't even sue them! That's in the fine print too! Happy to say I cancelled the policy. Fortunately, 1 month later Porsche initiated a recall on that part and will refund my money. Other than that, I've had no other problems and I still love this car. It cost $3200 if Porsche replace your brakes. I did it myself for $300. Oil change cost $400. I did it myself for $75. Overall I would say the Panamera Turbo is a great car. It's definitely a crowd pleaser. You can't even go to a gas station without getting complemented. Just be aware that maintenance is extremely high unless you can do most of it yourself. And good luck finding a extended warranty company that won't rob you and will actually approve your claim when you file one.

Just last week a used car salesman was showing me a 2013 Panamera 4S - 123,000 km done. I didn't drive it, but he was going on and on as to how great the car is. Showed me the air suspension as well. He is selling it for $31,000 ... The interior is quite good, no doubt, but the cost of maintenance will be beyond my budget. Hence, I walked away from it. Your video just confirmed my decision. Thank you Very much.

I bought a 2011 Panamera 4 in May 2017. In nearly 3 years of ownership, it has been very disappointing. The first problem was the window switch. It flew off and I had to tear apart the door panel to replace it. Then the oil pressure regulator valve went bad about 5 months after I bought it. That was almost $800 to repair. Fortunately, I don't recall any repairs in 2018. I bought the car with about 86k miles on it. Today, it has 155k miles. In that span, it has cost me over $7k in repairs and I have more to do. In all fairness, some of the repairs are routine maintenance. Some of the expenses include (approximate): $1100 - ignition coil and oil pressure valve $600 - second key and diagnosis $960 - diagnosis and two front tires (not to mention a 140 mile tow bill because the car doesn't have a spare tire $350 - door lock actuators (replaced 3 of the 4) (eBay parts) $160 - blower motor (Porsche quote $600, I did the work myself with a part from eBay) $2200 - front brakes $420 - rear tires (bought slightly used tires from eBay to save about $600) $489 - bought part for driveshaft support (center support bearing is a common problem) $256 - transmission oil pan to fix leak (just the parts) I haven't had the driveshaft support part or the transmission oil pan installed yet. Expecting about $500-$1k to get those two things done. Many of these parts are those I searched for on eBay or elsewhere to save money. I've done a LOT of work myself wherever I could. Doing these things have saved me, literally, many thousands of dollars. For example, I've been quoted $1800 to replace the transmission oil pan and about $2500 to replace the driveshaft. As you can see, the parts are FAR cheaper and the labor is really not that intense. And then there is today. Had my check engine light checked out and it looks like I need a thermostat. I was quoted almost $1k for that. Then there is a faulty TPMS sensor and air bag light. Porsche quoted me $2200 to replace the passenger seat frame to fix the air bag light. I love the car but I've been nothing but terribly disappointed in the amount of repairs that it has required. It's not me. Do research on these problems and you'll find that they are common for the Panamera. Oh. I didn't even mention the front end assembly. That's about $5k repair and most people seem to be like me and just live with the crunching noise in cold weather. It sounds like the car is going to fall apart when you go over a speed bump. For $100k car, I expect a much more reliable car. I'm extremely disappointed.

Just like everything in life, half of what you hear is exaggerated, both good and bad. Panameras are no better or worse than almost any car in their own price category. I bought a 1 owner 2012 Panamera turbo in 2020 with 14,000 miles. Actually owned by an older lady that only drove it in summer to the country club. Paid only 1/4 the MSRP and I thought I was golden with low miles, but had some of the "typical" issues that Panameras have. I spent another $10k to fix it at Porsche but that's the crap-shoot you take with anything you buy. Will something break again, yes, would I do it all over again, Hell Yes! I'm still shocked that I could ever own a $171,400 vehicle that can still keep up with or beat 99% of the cars on the road, gets 20mpg and cost the same as a 2023 Kia to insure. Life is far too short to worry about every little issue that someone online can come up with. If you ever get the chance to drive a Panamera, especially a turbo or turbo S, you'll want one and never look back.

Something seriously over looked here is the depreciation of this type of car. I bought one, then had some problems with it and asked Porsche to buy it back from me. (the suspension broke plus I had some minor panel beating issues which were self inflicted.) The money they offered (after all repairs were done and paid for) was 55% of what I had paid them 15 months earlier... In other words the car depreciated by 45% in 15 months. Mechanical issues can be overcome by buying the car with a Porsche motorplan but the depreciation issue is not avoidable . So be warned

For Americans (like myself) that are thinking there were no Panameras with a manual, they manufactured base model V6 Panameras for the European market with manuals. The PDK transmission MUST be serviced regularly as it is prone to failure if not properly serviced. You also forgot to mention the Burmester sound system, which is the actual premium option for the audio system.

I have the 2012 Panamera S Hybrid. I bought it used from a Porsche dealership. I keep having the Hybrid System Failure code come on and go off since I've had it. I replaced the regular battery within a month of purchasing it. I spent $1000 with the battery and reprogramming. I keep taking it back and they keep saying they don't know why it's happening. Do you have any clue. Also my engine had to be taken out because of the rear engine oil seal was leaking. Porsche of North America covered the cost. I love the car but I hate these problems and don't feel 100% confident about it. It drives amazing.

I'm glad I watched this. I just discovered Porsche stopped putting the naturally aspirated V8 engine in the Panamera GTS so if I want one now I will have to buy used. They were all bought up by Porsche enthusiasts in 2016 and I can't even find one for sale in Canada. The NA V8's have the best exhaust note of all the Panameras' and for the cost and trouble of owning this car, it should sound really good too.
@ZDY66666
@ZDY66666 5 жыл бұрын
If you really care about exhaust notes, I'd recommend you to look at 981 and 991.1 generation instead! Unless you dislike high screaming sound and prefer low grumbling sound (which I mean is very valid although I never understood why ppl liked the sound of being more similar to a tractor)

Never knew Porsche enthusiasts even cared about the panamera. The typical criticism is "Panamera is not a real Porsche!" Glad to see them receiving some love in your area. Same for the 2010 4S. I got lucky and got one for a good price and the guy selling it had already gotten two hits within 20 minutes of posting on Cargurus . Porsche screwed itself by going with that turbo V6 BS on the newer models. Turbo or not, you cant justify paying all of that money for a V6.

Wow, I thought BMW engines had oil leak problems. Porsche is possibly worst. LOL my BMW valve cover leak at around 50,000 miles. I guess my Lexus is the only car that never leaked oil and nothing broke on it even at 320,000 miles. Just the normal wear and tear. Yes, that's not a typo..320,000 miles. NOTE: It did start burning oil around the 300,000 mark.

All vehicles will have a lemon or unfortunate system failures, Porsche if you read reviews on Edmunds etc. from long time owners you’ll see that Lexus and Porsche are equally reliable. Just because one car from a giving brands has a break down does not mean the entire brand is garbage. I’ve owned most German cars over the last 20yrs and maintaining your cars maintenance makes the difference between reliability and catastrophe.

@racekar80 7 жыл бұрын
different car review the carbon brakes will last for over 100,000 miles with normal use so the cost is not an issue. The price quoted is also to replace the discs which almost never need to be replaced, the carbon pads are about $1500 front and rear.

chuckback73 lol dude no... For about 100,000 miles you'll spend $3000 on brake pads... The brembo pads are start at $267 and you can go higher... The OP was very wrong.. even the rotors for this car are $600 for front and $300 for back.. idk where he got 20K from.

I know this is an old video BUT never ever ever buy a used Porsche without a warranty.. ever seriously. Repairs for the most "minor" issue will exceed your expectations. Second, make sure you go over the car very carefully, check every button, every electric component (multiple times) and ask for a maintenance report from the car logs as well as receipts for work done at a Porsche service center. I'd consider ANY repairs done outside of that to be questionable at best.

I'm planning to buy Panamera turbo 2012 4.8 L ! What do you think about that engine?
@kaijorgensen6940
@kaijorgensen6940 3 жыл бұрын
Not that you asked me, but. All panameras (all engines) from 2009-2014 have a defective thermostat housing, where the coolant tubes were sealed with an epoxy and no other form of clamp. Over time, they begin to erode and cause a major coolant leak that can blow the engine, and if it doesn’t is not a cheap fix. The cool thing, in 2015 Porsche released a new housing with a flange and bolt fixing the issue and it is unsurprisingly retorfittable. So, when you are looking for one try to find out if that’s been done, if not, you can do it yourself for under $500 in parts and likely not too much more from a mechanic. The other issue are the crankshaft bolts of 2009-2011 I believe, and Porsche has a recall on ALL models. I’ve also heard that if the engine is blown due to the crank shaft bolts shearing Porsche will replace the engine ymmv. Ultimately an ounce of prevention is worth literally thousands in cure (repair). Also, being a Porsche, those CPOS are fantastic.

It’s a damn shame these cars don’t last but it makes sense, I mean when you think about it the average rich guy is not going to keep this car past 2 years so in a way it does make sense they’re just robbing rich people with an inferior product masking it in a beautiful package rich people are not looking up the reliability of this car us poor people are lmao it’s unfair it’s unfair tears 😭 tears 😭
