I Bought a FAKE Secretlab Gaming Chair (GTRACING ACE M1 Review)

I have had the GTRacing ACE M1 for just over 8 moths now and can say it does not hold up. At first it seemed well made, but as the months went on the back reclining mechanism completely failed and now the back just flops back and forth. Also the seat now wobbles, and so do the arm rests. I weigh right around what the reviewer weighs about 245lbs, so not a light weight, but well under the chairs listed rating. Save up and get the Secret Lab chair, because the ACE might be half the price, but it's less then half the chair.

The price is different for a reason like yes sometimes there will be off chances but most things are priced more for a reason like pay once for something of quality then spending double to get it replaced when it breaks. I just bought and put together the GTRacing Ace L3 model which has the same kind of seat as the Secretlabs Titan chair, and also the same kind of built in lumbar support. It's a very good chair, I do not regret my purchase. I was cautious about buying a "gaming" chair but the various levels of customization let me get the posture that works best for me. And without having the metal wings on the sides of the seat like the M1 model has, I can sit any way I want. I would recommend the L3 over the M1 for the seat alone.

My GTracing ace held up for like 2 months and then the seat foam was permanently indented. Just save up for a Secret Lab unless you want to buy a new GTRacing every few months.

Be very careful you know what you're getting when you buy a GTRacing gaming chair. I was in the market for a new chair and I too looked at both the Secret Lab chairs and the GTRacing chair. I chose the GTRacing GT901chair which has good reviews on Amazon. My decision was in part based on the price, with the GTRacing GT901 winning the toss. It's a decision I regret very much making. First, let me say that the GTRacing chair looks great and seems to be solidly built. That's about the end of the pros. The con is that the GT-901 is the most uncomfortable chair I've ever owned. My old $69 Amazon chair is more comfortable than this chair. Why, you may ask? For me, the seat in the GTRacing chair is positioned wrong. When in its most upright position, the chair looks like it's tilted forward a few degrees and it feels like you're being forced out of the chair to the front. Reclining isn't the answer. It gets more uncomfortable as you recline the chair. As you recline it, the seat doesn't move and it's murder on your back. My ass has been sore since I first assembled the chair over a month ago. I've written too much already, so let me conclude with a couple of points: Chair comfort is highly subjective and your mileage may vary. You may love, or at least can tolerate, the GTRacing 901 chair. I most definitely do not. The Secret Lab chairs may be no different. I don't know, I've never tried a Secret Lab chair. My plans are to sell this piece of crap chair, buy a Secret Lab chair and hope I made the right decision. I'll sell this one for cheap. I would have sent the chair back but my 20-pound Tuxedo cat signed the chair with his claws before I could box it back up and ship it back. Apparently, he hates this chair, too.

I have the GTRacing Ace L3, and in the forward most position the seat does lean forward a bit, and makes it feel like you might fall out. However, the angle of the seat is adjustable, as is the angle of the back, so don't use the forward most position. On the GTRacing Ace L3 model, I have the seat adjusted to one notch from full forward, and the back adjusted for one notch back from fully forward and it gives me the perfect upright posture for most my PC and gaming needs. I am not sure if the model chair you have lets you lock the seat in a different position, but the ACE models do. I just did an image search for the GT901. It does in fact use a more primitive style chair base. The ACE models have a different mechanism under the chair that offers that customizability. So yeah, the ACE M1 or L3, depending on whether you want the wings on the side of the seat, or a flatter seat, works out very well.

@@kingkeltic4228 They do make great chairs. It’s totally possible to have a company be great at marketing and manufacturing! Secret lab is evidence of that. They package their chairs amazingly and the build process is easy. I can’t tell you how annoying it is to build a chair from a manufacturer that doesn’t spend time streamlining or at least including good instructions in the build process. I’m not sure if you are saying that because you had a bad experience with them or don’t believe in their products but they genuinely make good chairs that can last for a good chunk of time.

I purchased this chair compare the differences in the cushion @ 0:13 you notice how the GTracing chairs seat is less thick and curves downward? well that's a problem, TWICE! I have fallen off this chair when I leaned forward to pick up a controller off the floor or other item I'm not even very heavy I'm like 185, it does not have stability when you get on the edge of seat leaning forward mid thigh length the back wheels get off the ground , with that curvature on the seat you just slide off when leaning forward and fall with the whole chair, DO NOT RECOMMEND, unless you plan on not ever leaning forward for anything. Another note, the shipping box came totally destroyed, and the parts in the box appeared to be pre opened like it was a previous return, had some scratches on the black metal parts .The free Headset sounds SUPER cheap!

I think people exaggerate the firmness of the chair because they are used to sitting in cheap $100-200 chairs that are super soft but lose their form in a matter of months. It's more firm, but I like it. The SoftWeave doesn't change any of that.

I was able to assemble it myself with no difficult and I am not an engineer or a put-it-together expert. The chair is super comfortable, I play video games for roughly 3-4 hours at a time and it does not make my back hurt or neck hurt. The Reclining function actually surprised me because it goes very low, you could fall asleep on it ( and in fact i have while laying on it with a foot rest for my legs). The red is a bold choice and I usually stay away but I love how the red and black contrast looks on this type of material. The wheels on this chair are very very quiet, I have wood vinyl in my apartment and there is absolutely no noise. OVERALL, I WOULD RECOMMEND or BUY IT AGAIN !

Very observant! Yes, at the beginning I had them wide. After sitting and realizing it was too wide, I adjusted the bolts to bring them in as close as possible.

No issues so far! Although to be transparent, I primarily sit on my Secretlab chair most days. But I've sat in other chairs that start to fall apart even with minimal sitting and so far the GT Racing chair has been just fine!

I just set my Ace up and with both the arm rests bolted in as narrowly possible the left arm rest is noticeably further out from the seat compared to the right arm rest. It looks like that's the case on yours too. I think I will widen the holes to bring the the left one to match. No big deal. I agree that they are a bit too wide as is.

Overall though, for gtracing to "copy" secret lab is a pretty good move. My softweave charcoal blue titan is the most comfortable chair I've had, so if the M1 is half as comfy as the SL range, they're on to a winner, especially at a budget price.

The L3 I bought has the built in lumbar adjustment. A knob on the side which surprisingly works. I was expecting to just leave the lumbar support at its lowest and put a nice massaging back cushion on, but I don't need it.

I have a Gtracing chair and its ok. Im going to tell anyone right now make sure to check the base of the chair and see if its made of plastic. The one I had was made of plastic not metal. So it ended up breaking. I ended up using a base part from another chair I use to have. You get what you pay for just keep that in mind.

It's nothing like it. Just copied look. I can tell just from the video the pu leather is a much lower quality, the seat is far softer and will loose shape over time. the seat reclines way too far back. basically you get what you pay for. ( Just adding the secret is $359 usa for the omega which is what that chair is a copying. so you save $140 for a lower quality fake.

Any cheap copy is not worth giving them any mention as if they where any good as a company they would have designed their own rather than copy others.

I'm not sure I'd call it a fake at this point. Is it competing in the same market for the same style chair? Sure, and the styling is similar so it's definitely going for people looking at the Secretlabs models. However, is this a bad thing that more companies are abandoning some of the worse style gaming chairs, and saturating the market with better features? I have seen many newer "gaming" chairs that have offered similar features to the Secretlabs. I think this is a good thing.
