Freddie, we purchased a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee new 10 years ago. It now has 118,000 miles. Nothing has gone wrong in 10 years of ownership, just tires, brakes and fluid changes. It has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. It has the 3.6 V6 like yours and the ZF 8 speed transmission. We live in the state of Wisconsin here in the USA and get a lot of snow. They salt the roads every time it snows. Despite this there is no rust on the Jeep. We love it, good look with your new Wrangler!!

Freddie, a top tip from the US. From a guy who's serviced plenty of those V6 engines. Replace both the PCV valve and vaccuum purge valve as fairly regular maintenance. Say every 20,000 miles. They are cheap and you can do it yourself. Decent engine if you take care of it. Common issues I've seen are throttle intermittently failing. And sometimes thr Ignition coils fail. Easy enough and cheap to replace. Side effects of all those issues is engine hunting. If its a clogged PCV or purge valve....the engine will hunt but not misfire. And finally be careful if you change the oil yourself, the housing for the oil filter is plastic. Do not over tighten. Enjoy! -Jules

I have a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 3.6lt V6 petrol (2 door)and really love it, especially how it rears up if you put your foot down on the 280bhp and is so capable off road. The front bumper in UK spec sticks out somewhat, but is perfect for sitting-on to change your boots. However, fuel economy is about 20mpg and Road Tax is the highest at £630! I agree though that it feels like an adventure every time I leave the house. Don’t forget to give the Jeep wave.

Cheers from 🇺🇸. I never considered owning a Wrangler until a buddy of mine wanted to look at property in Tennessee. We met in Nashville where we rented a Wrangler similar to yours and headed off to southeast Tennessee. Every morning we would remove the roof panels and head off on mainly backroads to explore what Tennessee had to offer. As motorcycle enthusiasts we were blown away, every road we traveled was filled with curves and nice pavement to match, a motorcyclist paradise. We never even hit the “dragon” or Cherohala Skyway as it was closed. Nevertheless, the Wranglers open air capability provided two cycle heads with a sense of what Tennessee and all her curves has to offer. Great choice mate!

Had two JK Rubicon’s (U.S.) & loved them, just an FYI the rubber knobs are to support the windshield when it’s folded down. The ring on the hood you mentioned before is for a bug bra to go protect the grille and part of the hood from road debris, goes up and over the hood and latches on that ring. I never used one though, all the doors can be removed even if you have the electronic window package, disconnect the connectors by the door and lift up on the doors, takes a bit of doing the first time you remove them if the door hinges weren’t lubed properly. Once they’re removed I used a generous amount of grease and after that they popped right off, super easy, always makes for a fun a ride with the doors off. Jeep mods are addicting Freddie, forewarned, my wife loved & hated it 😂

Hey Freddie, congratulations on your purchase of the Wrangler, she's a beaut! On the subject of whether to keep your Fiat or not, I can say from experience that trying to park a big beast on local errands is a pain. I have a Toyota Prado which is used for touring and a Golf R for city work, as it's small and easy to park. If your situation allows, keep the Fiat, you may find that you use it more often for the local stuff and save the Jeep for the road trips!

Oh Freddie, I love you man. As a Jeep owner I got to tell ya Jeep stands for just empty each pocket. lol you’ll find out. The 3.6 vvt motor in your Jeep is the same as the one in my Dodge Challenger. I think you’re confused about the 3.6 going 400k miles, you might be thinking about the 258 straight 6 motor. The one your dad had and the one I drive every day. Mine is a 1996 with 262k on it now. My daughter has a 2000 wrangler with the same motor with 174k. Those motors are indestructible. Your motor maybe not. Jk’s are not as good as the old TJ’s and your dad’s XJ. Keep that Fiat. You’re gonna have to learn about jeeps. The thing on the hood is for strapping the windshield down. Yes the windshield folds down. You don’t know it yet, but you’ve just entered a new world. If you find a little rubber duck on it one day. You know you’ve made it. Jeep people are like Harley people. We are everywhere, and if you have questions we can help. When something mechanical happens be ready to hear “oh that’s just a Jeep thing “ you’ll find out. Remember a bonnet= hood, a wing=fender,a boot=trunk🇺🇸 lol I know one thing Freddie, you are the best dressed Jeep owner I’ve ever seen👍😜

Welcome to the club. I have a 2014 Jeep Wrangler JKU. I love seeing people try to take the top off for the first time. The handle on the hood is a throw back to early Jeeps. it is to hold down the windshield if you lay it flat against the rubber knobs on either sides of it. This can be done with this model but it is a LOT of work and nobody really does it. Have fun from Kentucky.

Lots of people on here naysaying about the MPG, reliability… Jeep itself- and Fred’s trousers. Sometimes - we buy things because we just want them, and have longed for them. It’s a weighed decision between the head and the heart, where the heart makes up 60% of the final analysis. Its not an appreciating asset. It’s a £14k toy - let him enjoy it. He works hard, and I’m sure there will be some content out of it too, it branches the channel out more, allows more adventures. Enjoy it Freddie, and the trousers are epic and in style at the moment!

@@JW20236 I agree and I’m sure he does - I just find it ironic that really, we are all a community and audience likeminded on motorcycles, anything with engines - however they are, really, singular or two person transport, and often impractical toys, ultimately. In real terms - this is by far the most practical vehicle Freddie now owns. It’s not a bike, and it’s not a shoebox like the fiat. The reaction was just funny to see - if he’d bought a £14k new Triumph, nobody would have bat an eyelid.

Oh dear, Freddie. I had one for ten years. All sorts of really expensive problems, plus they drink fuel at such a rate. 3,600cc is unusual.

My good lady loves Land Rovers, she owned a few over the years. When her old Discovery came to its rusty end I bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee from a local guy. She was less than impressed, I loved it, like sitting in an armchair at a gentleman’s club. I now have very sensible and reliable Toyota RAV4. Still look longingly at Jeeps though. Looking forward to future videos of your Jeep adventures.

The original Grand Cherokees are incredibly rare now (I love them). Good choice on the RAV4- I really like these

My mom has a 2015 like yours here in the USA. Hers is right hand drive as well because she is a mail carrier so she can pull up to mail boxes with ease. This is her second right hand drive, first being a Jeep Cherokee. When I was a kid people would look at me funny while sitting in the left side which is normally our driving position. Hope you get years of good service and fun out of your Jeep!

Two things would put me off personally and that's, one it's American, and two, it's a Jeep. I've got a fabulous picture of my Grandad who in the 1920s was wearing those exact trousers. I believe they called them Oxford Bags, what goes around comes around.

Wow, you are definitely over the moon with this purchase. Glad your dream to own a Jeep Wrangler has come true. It definitely looks like an excellent example. You can’t believe how common they are over here (US) and so expensive to buy new or used. They definitely have a large following and infinite customization options. Enjoy your new ride with Clyde.

The amount of material in Freddie’s linen trousers has caused a shortage of Egyptian cotton.

It's bulletproof for a Stellantis vehicle which means it's still below average. Hopefully it doesn't drink oil, have lifter issues, have timing chain guide failure, etc... Here in the Colonies, Jeeps have a cult status and the owners will swear by them despite how diabolically bad they are. Hope yours treats you well and it's the exception to the rule.

I’ve owned two Wranglers, 2dr, inline 6, a 97 and a 2003. Both were unbelievably reliable, easy to maintain, and fun. I still own the 03 as my only vehicle other than my Guzzi. My daughter had one like you bought, but traded it for the pickup version.
