Sheesh, back to back weeks where things didn't go as planned. UPDATE: Not gonna return the camera just yet. Just realized how simple it is to replace the light seals, so I’m gonna try that first. If that doesn’t work, back to Japan it goes!

Most of the older type RB67 film backs ( the Pro and Pro-S )will need to have their light seals replaced The Pro-SD backs do not use foam type seals. The actual replacement is fairly simple...so definitely if the camera is ok otherwise no need to send it back 🙂 Hope you are enjoying the RB.

Mamiya RB67 is a great camera, you really didn't go wrong there, just try to get a well preserved body, I recommend buying from Japan. :) Very nice results !

Replacing light seals isn’t too difficult and you can find the replacements online. Good luck!

Make sure there is no lens dust, it could be that. Nice Mamiya, hopefully you will get everything sorted out.

I found your post searching for RB67 light leaks. I had bought a Mamiya RB67 film back to use on my Graphic Century press camera and have a light leak in the EXACT same place for every frame except the first one on a roll. It occurs whether I put the dark slide in first or not. Frames 2-10 have the fog streak in the same place. It seems to be leaking when the frame is advanced. Did you replace the film back light seals, and did it resolve the issue?

Great photos! my RZ67 had the same problem. The light leak is on the film back not the camera. Repairs shouldn’t be too hard.
