I find this video really refreshing. There is alot of RB67 videos but not quite like this. I enjoy the raw nature of you learning as you go along whitch I think does not get dsplayed on KZbin as much because we just want to take "really nice photos". But aluctly getting to that stage is a complete process and I love that about this video ! Well done and happy shooting ♥️📸

if anyone has issues with the bellows, there is a japanese seller on ebay selling replacement bellows which could be a cleaner alternative to fixing them

Great video. We all get excited about new purchases and forget to be patient and look. Sometimes we are embarrassed to tell the seller "No Thanks" but patience can save you a few dollars. Looking to purchase a RB67S later next week myself. Your video will help me to check out the camera properly and patiently at the sellers home before I say ok.

OMG! My mind is blown. It is always so exciting to find people interested in photography, especially film photography (as I got interested in it a few months ago myself), and to find someone that can make such an enjoyable video, and just happen to be a fellow lithuanian, also living in Denmark, just like me :DD instant subscribe, keep up the good work! Definitely checking out the instagram page as well :)

Labas, Gabija! Well well well. First of all, thank you for the kind words and for getting in touch. :) Oh so you are shooting film longer then me! What camera do you use, what do you like shooting? Which part of Denmark do you live in? I am currently in Aalborg. Having lots of questions for another Lithuanian, in Denmark, who also just got into film photogrpahy. Hope it is understandable :D P.s. expect another video later today! Trip to the beach with Mami :)

A very good video, great information. I've have four Mamiya's medium format cameras. One Mamiya RB67 professional light leak and the mirror sticks but it also had three lens, two rz67's one will not extend all the way and the other bottom plate damaged both with 2 lenses and one Rz67 professional II no problems but had no film back total cost 400.00 us. I'm new to this and seen the good and bad sides of buying from ebay. I leaned that RB67 lens will work with Rz67 you are right about so many things but I also found out that if your going to fix something like a light leak from the bellows you just have to go buy bellows or make them if you have the know how... Great video hope you do more Mamiya has some great lenes if you can find them...

Also got a good buying tip for everyone, use a 'dud' roll of film (flashed to light) to check whether the back winds film , ie the lever on the mag turns the spool inside, this is also good for loading practice !! this also checks the cameras mechanical interlocks as well- Multi-exposure prevention & dark-slide shutter lock; as some of these prevent shooting with No film in the mag.

just another tip, for beginners, this camera is NOT like a Hasselblad, you have to advance the film SEPARATELY , so your mistakes can be corrected: just remove the slide, re-cock shutter-large lever on right hand side, SHOOT, AND ONLY THEN flick the SMALL lever on the back (this is the one that advances the film).

Indeed I was struggling with the shooting sequence for the first time. Especially with PRO body, which is not as smart as PRO SD. The second roll I shot recently was way better, got all 10 out of 10 shots properly exposed! Even some unplanned long exposures as well. You can see them in my latest video :)

Although you didn't mention it in the video, the back on your original RB Pro is an RB Pro SD back, which is newer & has some important improvements over earlier backs. Also, there's now a youtube video recently posted entitled "Fix Old Cameras: Mamiya RB67 Light Seals." Bart

Thank you for noticing it, Bart. Exactly, yes, I forgot to mention it. If someone else is interested, you can read about the differences in Pro, Pro S and Pro SD backs here - rb67.helluin.org/backs/. Oh and the video you are talking about is really helpful. I would also like to see how he is fixing the bellows. Seems like he knows what he is doing. Best wishes, Arvydas

I felt your agony and ecstasy! First roll of film I shot through an old RB67 Pro SD, I forgot to remove the dark slide, and unfortunately the mechanism that prevents an exposure while the dark slide is in place did not work. Yikes! Anyhow, like you I ended up buying a second body since they are - at the moment - so affordable. I have seen replacement bellows kits for the RB67, but at $75, it may just be better to buy another body.

Unfortunate to hear it, Carl. I am happy that my SD body is smarter than me. Really hope it will not fail on me as well.. :/ Because of such a hectic first shooting experience and just to prevent anything from failing I decided to make a list of actions to take before clicking the shutter. Really helps :) You will see me doing it in the next video, which is coming out soon!

thanks for the cool video man, so did you buy this camera from japan and if so which ebay seller was it and how fast was the shipping? I'm contemplating on doing that as well but I'm not sure about ordering something important like that from japan.

Thank you for the kind words! :) I bought the first model (the one I was trying to fix) from a person I met, and the second model that was in a perfect condition I bought on Ebay. Check if the seller is selling more camera stuff, his rating and try to contact him, ask some question before ordering to see if he is active :) I bought the Mamiya RB67 camera body and a lightmeter from Ebay, didn't have any problems with it :) I even asked for some origami when receiving items from Japan and the seller made and send me some. :) Good luck!

good video, PS. handling the back: there are no lenses in this system with a "bulging front"- like the Nikon 14-24 mm, so, if you put some cloth or paper on the table you CAN SAFELY lay the body on the lens ( lens down)- the lens/mount IS strong enough for it, to make releasing the back locks a little easier and removing the back without difficulty.

Hej Michael! I would guess that you like to do as much research as you can before purchasing something :) there is a lot of great info out there! Did you have fun shooting 645? I also imagine there are way more places in Copenhagen that develops your film. Here in Aalborg we have couple and they are expensive. Had to get myself the whole digitizing kit (chemicals, scanner...) and do it myself. Med venlig hilsen, Arvydas

Hej Arvydas, Well haven't actually run a full film through it - Busy at work and are also fixing up our new home - But perhaps in a week or two, I can spend a saturday in Copenhagen shooting a couple of rolls. I develop my Black and White myself (using Rodinal) and will rely on other to develop my color films, there are at least two places here in Copenhagen (and close to my workplace) where I can get almost day to day development. Scanning is done with my Canon Canoscan 9000F Med venlig hilsen Michael PS: Har også sendt dig en besked på din side på Facebook :)

how the camera take the photo with the dark slide place it? mine doesn't shoot with it
@arvydasgasparaviciusphotog7250
@arvydasgasparaviciusphotog7250 6 жыл бұрын
Anthony Mapp do you have the 1970s, professional model? That one doesn't seem to have a mechanism to prevent the shutter being clicked while the dark slide is in. This is what happened to my first and 4th shot. The professional SD body, however, doesn't allow me to press the shutter If the dark slide is in. So I guess they have upgraded it during the 1970 -1990. Not sure about the professional S, maybe it also has this prevention.

The Pro S added a safety lock so you can't take a photo with the dark slide in. It also added a switch to prevent double exposures but you can still do a multiple exposure if you flip the switch. That first camera came with an SD back and those are nice. You don't have to worry about the foam wearing out on the SD backs.
