Im surprised calv didn't mention that the steering wheel is staright out of a lamborghini gallardo and they even came with lambo brakes. Also how Jeremy Clarkson said the engine in the b7 rs4 is one of the best engines ever.

Calvin, I have a B7 A4 special edition that I'm building, doing injectors and ecu from a BKD into a BRD, and the exterior design is based from an RS4, absolutely love these cars mate 😀 👍

I know it’s hard to believe but Wingbacks AND Flat bottom lambo steering wheel were standard on these - no charge. You could swap out the wingbacks for the comfort seats and you could also change the steering wheel to a standard Audi round style wheel which some people (crazily) did, but yes most B7 RS4’s will come with the wingbacks and the FBSW and they were free to spec. This only applies in the UK and Europe. In the US they had to put up with the comfort seats and the standard steering wheel.

Wingbacks were standard, but some buyers speced the free option of Recaro electric comfort seats.

Those seats were known for getting stolen, the insurance would write the car off as audi stopped making them. I think a new set were like 18k because audi had to make them from scratch

I had a mint Daytona grey Avant a couple of years ago, Couldn't live with those seats and a manual gearbox everyday so swapped it for a V10 RS6 (also with those carbon ceramics). Your RS4 is doing good power mines dyno'd at 370hp 😂

Mine just sits in the garage over winter. I get my fix watching rs stuff on KZbin to see me through to spring. Just personal choice, rather use what I class as disposable cars during winter, for example the wife's q5 means nout to me 😂

Those B7 RS4's are just awesome cars. That one sounded amazing but maybe a bit too full on for daily driving. The B9 S4 doesn't have an S-tronic gearbox they have zf 8spd auto's in them 😉

Best looking audi every made in my opinion, them cars used to get wrote of back in the day because people used to steel the front seats and back then they were mega money so insurance would catagries it!

If that head gasket receipt includes the timing chain/tensioners then that's a huge selling point. When people in the know are looking for an RS4 they will immediately be looking for this at the top of the list otherwise they will be haggling hard! You can also add a few bob for those ceramic brakes, they were an option on the B7's. Great investment/weekend cars, but not so much as a DD due to them being absolute money pits. High tax (this one could *possibly* be in the lower bracket though) and always pretty low mpg but most buyers should be aware aware of that and just looking for that V8 roar and rumble. But IMO the decat ruins that example, they sound much more deep down rumbly with the OEM cats. And don't expect any more than around 360-390bhp if it hasn't had a carbon clean recently, the buildup hits the performance and economy really hard on these. Still a fantastic machine though, definitely on a lots of peoples' bucket list and has a lot of mileage in that 'ol V8 yet!

@@JC_46 They are a maintenance item at around 100k or so (according to audi) and a huge job as the entire front subframe and engine needs dropped to replace. Granted, these are not as weak a point as on the S4 V8, those are guaranteed to fail at some point but that 7k bill seems a bit expensive to be just a head gasket on a B7. You are right though, they aren't an "issue" as such, but can instantly kill the engine if it ever stretches/snaps.

@@sarcastixx74 yeah that’s fair enough. Sometimes I wonder how well Audi know their own cars. I’m on all of the owners clubs/forums and this is never really spoken about as an issue on the B7 RS4. The S4 yes but not the RS4. If anything it’s deemed to be a really rare and unusual issue if it does occur.

@@JC_46 True, the metal guides on the tensioners make the chains on the RS4 much more reliable compared to the crappy plastic used on the B7 and B8 S4's. My own stage 2+ B8 has just hit 81k miles and occasionally has around a quarter of a sec slap on start up. I only move it every other weekend so like most owners I'm not gonna worry about it till it lasts longer and starts to happen every start. I just wonder what was involved in that 7 grand job though! I'm pretty sure a head gasket should only be around half that? The S4 seems to be more of a money pit than its' bigger brother which makes it even more desirable but the B8 variants are much more tunable for relatively little outlay.

@@sarcastixx74 yeah seems very steep at 7k. The S4’s are quite problematic. I know it’s easy to sit here and say it but I’d rather just save up that bit more and buy the RS than own just an S car, especially if it has problems. Labour isn’t cheap on these RS cars though! I love the B8, especially if it’s got the optics pack - looks so mean from the front. I went for a B7 myself just because I wanted a manual V8! Mines also Stage 2 running 450bhp and only on 70k so hopefully many happy miles still to come! Enjoy your B8 - the 4.2 V8 is a must own, what an engine.

In my opinion ceramic brakes aren't best option for daily car. They are expensive, needs good warm up and they are loud sometimes. I've seen a guy in comments that said that this Audi was flying around Nordschleife so ceramic brakes make sens then otherwise never again for daily.

I guarantee you it won't be 414bhp unless it's had a carbon clean recently...the b7rs4 is renowned for carbon build up which usually costs around £700 for a clean...had mine on a Dyno yrs ago when I had mine and was only pushing 370bhp..fantastic cars but with the carbon issue and the fact you can't tune them unless you put a supercharger on them at a cost of 10k I didn't see the point of keeping it long...

Realistically, 0-60 doesn't happen often on the road. 20-70 is often the ballpark for joining a dual carriageway from a roundabout. For most cars, it's only slightly slower than 0-60 and much more consistent for rwd cars, which struggle with traction.
