@@Marcus-kw2ed but s4 s6 are diesel now ... They used to be the competition to 335i 340i for bmw and s6 to 550i and the mercedes E500 etc. Pretty much any sane person would pick the S4 B8.5 or the S6 C7 instead of those dull diesels. Don't get me wrong buddy I do drive a diesel as a daily bmw 535d but if I am paying for more performace oriented car I would never give a cent for this bullshit. Also don't give me the RS argument since RS is a direct competator to M3/M4/M5 and AMG where the price tag is for those few who have the financial status to afford one and that is far less people then those who can spend for S4/S6.
@Marcus-kw2ed4 жыл бұрын
Stefan Netitrea yes that’s what I meant, the performance cars (Rs) are still petrol but the slightly sporty cars (S) have gone diesel. I would pick a b8 S4/Rs4 all day over the newer Turbo versions too, because the old 4,2fsi is a masterpiece IMO, and although the new 2,9TT is good too, it doesn’t sound half as good as the old one did. I actually think Audi did a good choice though with the S-versions going diesel. In Sweden, Audi sold 10 A6 competitions for every 1 S6 sold, basically meaning 10x more competitions that were diesels than the petroleum S6. Since people who wanted faster bought the Rs6, and the people who just wanted a slightly faster car bought a a6 competition.

For me it's the B5 RS4. Squat muscular looks with all the torque you need to drive very fast without having to wring the neck of the car which on most roads is is not very practical or safe to do. That said the Merc C63 looks stunning as well but has the slight edge in terms of classyness. But living in the UK where it rains 'all' the time I think it would be difficult to find opportunities to use its tremendous power without spinning off in a tree. Audi RS4 B5. An iconic depreciation proof practical supercar.
@adrianw250610 жыл бұрын
I have owned RS4 B5 and RS4 B7. The B5 is an exciting car to drive, a huge slug of mid range torque and when fitted with a Milltek exhaust, it sounds awesome. Mine was remapped to 420 BHP, as a twin turbo it's a very tuneable engine. However, it is also blighted by understeer, torque steer (even with Quattro, it has that much torque) and a chassis that cannot handle the power. Sometimes I felt more like a passenger than a driver. The gearbox is also rather notchy (the designers had problems finding one that would fit and still handle the torque) and the clutch is heavy. The B7 feels very different. The engine needs to be worked hard to get the most out of it but will pull rapidly all the way to 8,500 RPM. The gearbox is slick and the clutch light. The chassis is a delight, beautifully balanced, turns in well and inspires confidence. Very stable at high speed, it never loses its composure. Responsive steering with a lot of feel and feedback. This is a car that could handle a lot more power than it has. So there you have it; the B5 is an uncouth brute that lives on the ragged edge; the B7 smooth, sophisticated and hugely capable. Take your pick!

I rented a 320d for a while in Germany and it was a decent looking thing. And seeing all the other 3x0 estates around I thought they all were easy on the eyes. I think the latest Audi A6 Avant (in pewter with anthracite wheels) reigns supreme in the estate world for looks--it's an angry, menacing thing to see on the road, particularly around dusk with its thin LED lights front and rear. Although C63 Amg is a master piece and just phenomenal however the running costs are very expensive... This why I very much prefer the Audi RS4... Ok fair enough its not as powerful or brutal as the C63 but its very much practical and is considerably cheaper than the AMG and running costs are low as well... I mean for example in Top gear when jeremy was driving the C63 the tires had signs of wear and tear after using it for a couple of hours wheres as the RS4 and M3 were like as good as new.... Now some people might disagree and say well it all depends on the driver but lets be honest who is going to drive a fantastic piece of machine built for speed and grunt drive it like a track car especially with family and like I said and Chris said the running costs are high so in actual fact you will be losing out on the car rather than benefiting from it... yeah you might have a nice car for your own taste but running it and maintance its gunna eat your money very fast... No offence to anyone who has a C63 or is a fan of one but thats my honest opinion.... C63 is like a cheetah, yeah its fast, great to look at and fun to drive but for a short while (as running costs is a major issue), where as an RS4 is like a horse, its not as fast as cheetah but neither is it slow, its more practical and running costs are quite low in comparison to C63 and it will put a smile on your face in long term.... Abviously if you can maintain a C63 then without a shaddow of doubt C63 all day.. but i'm speaking from an average persons point of view...

Lately I met on the streets a black B5 with black rims and black windows. Looks like a Go Fast. Nice.

RS2 & RS4 2.7 V6 Biturbo are the abloutely most outstandig cars Audi ever produced in series (except Sport Quattro) !! Styling + Power + Emotion makes it untouchable for any other car at this time & up to today....!! So when yout get one tke care of it....

Get a Audi S4 and chip tune it, end of story.
@noname-wb5cv10 жыл бұрын
S4 looks like an A4. I would rather tune an A4 Quattro with manual or a RS4 with the best looks of the three.

stubones They are called 3.0T even though they are supercharged... The T just means charged engine.

Slapbladder :) I found that out shortly after. Hopefully a S4 Avant will be my next car. 320D Touring BMW is a nice car, but it sounds like a tractor.

Has anybody noticed that the body design of these Audi's are almost the same just different head and tail light design? Pretty lazy engineering IMO

I have a 2007 RS4. I just went into an Audi dealership to look at cars and was shocked that my car was still every bit as fresh (or not fresh) as 2017s.

Chris Brown that’s the charm of these cars. They’re sleepers. You must not understand what these cars are meant for and who they appeal to

Forward to 12mins 50secs onward for the best car. Its a matter of taste. If you want silly toys, suspension settings to confuse a rocket scientist, and silly gadgets, join the other aggressive testosterone fueled muppets that sit on your rear bumper (assuming they keep up) get the S4. If you prefer a proper driver's car that powers from the rear wheels and does everything without having to shout about it (apart from the sonet from the exhausts) then it has to be the C63. See the 507 edition for more kick!
@SIMcityplayer200210 жыл бұрын
Mercedes supporter. RS4 is less shouting about it and j quicker in the real world. 507 is just a tuned C63 anybody can do it.Also, AWD is also a driver's choose. Say to avoid FWD.

And 507 is just a tuned AMG.

Another bloody excellent review Chris. You cut through the bullshit, tell it like it is, and we respect your opinions for doing so. To top it off you're a bloody talented driver too, was not expecting you to do that with the merc in those conditions! Reigning car reviewer mate, good job.

Was lucky enough to drive the B7 RS4 a few times. Manual, V8, proper sound, heavy clutch. A real, proper car. Drinks like a lunatic but so much fun! Would take it over any other RS4 except maybe the new 2.5 TFSI....which is just so fast.

I emptied half a tank in about 40 minutes of driving on the Autobahn, never went any faster than 260 km/h.
