I don't understand why you'd take it for an MoT before investigating the knocking you heard and suspected a suspension component ? Interesting that there was no mention of it on the MoT paperwork though. Did you know you were creating a fail history for the cars mot history when you took it (having not checked all the bulbs despite you having replaced a couple at the rear)? It feels like you're doing the absolute minimum to get it motd then rid of.

No, that's not the case The idea for the mot is to see what needs to be addressed and then fixed.

‘Creating a fail history’ 😂 do me a favour!! I’d rather buy a car that’s had failures listed, and then rectified, so you know the history of the car! As opposed to a car that has had work ‘done’ but never proven because it never failed.

Thanks for the comment, I opted for this route because the car can be fully inspected underneath as I do not have a ramp/workshop. The mot vehicle lifts are able to check the suspension in both the laden/normal ride position, unladen/extended and shake the suspension too. A brake performance test is carried out which shows if there is any binding or imbalance in the braking effort and handbrake performance, this will aid me when servicing the vehicle. They also carry out an emissions test which is an aid prior to servicing. Once I collate my list of working on the car so far and the mot failure I can then methodically work through the car to ensure I get the car to the best possible standard, I do need to also consider the financial balance. Hopefully some of my other videos to date provide a reflection of my workmanship.
