Our new family milk cow arrives with a steer calf in-tow from Our Father's Farm. We have to see if she will fit into our system of husbandry and if our boss cow - Flossy - will accept the new arrival.

Keeping new livestock in quarantine for a week is just good practice. I was supprised you put the cows together immediately.

I used to keep freshwater fish & had a small tank for holding new fish before putting them into the larger tanks. I'd clean the big tank & do a partial water change as usual. The small tank was kept empty & clean. Then in a few days,if buying a few new fish, I could use some fish tank water plus mostly fresh, treated water in the small tank & let that mature a bit, when ready to get new fish. I'd add some aquarium salt to both of the tanks as a treatment to disinfect the water & serve as a tonic for the fish - both old & incoming. It helps oxygenate the fresh water too, as I recall, which helps mitigate stress & their abilities to better deal with changes in their care or environment. Then, ideally, the new fish can be observed for a couple weeks or months. I did break my rules & introduced a big Oranda goldfish right away so he'd have a bigger tank & wouldn't be alone. I didn't realize it had swim bladder disease. It died & the other Orandas developed swim bladder disease & also died. No doubt the guys who sold us that sick fish knew why he was having trouble swimming, but chose to not tell us. It was such a lovable fish though. My daughter wanted it for a birthday present so I bought it to make her happy. He was a bit expensive, being a larger fish. Then I'd had to buy costly meds, but it only helped marginally, & it only lived for a few months. The others I'd had for years soon followed. It pays to be cautious when introducing new pets - especially fish.

When I'm looking for a good, strong leather collar, I head to the thrift store and go through the belts. Look for the real leather ones (not sewn together) and trim to length and put new holes in. There's narrower ones in the ladies section and wider ones in the men's. My dog has a Ralph Lauren collar. Good prices too

I especially enjoyed seeing the chidlers today. Jonah seemed really upbeat. Gideon has grown up like crazy this year. Lily is such an amazing little girl in amongst all those brothers. Josiah looks so much like my grandson, Hudson who loves working in his grandma's garden. Henry is always star of the show! They are all such good workers and incredibly cute! You are indeed blessed! 🌻

I like Roma tomatoes as well. As a matter of fact I plant more determinate tomatoes than indeterminate. They are less work as you never need to cut off suckers, the more, the more fruit. The trick is to plant them in stages so one takes over for the other when it is done. As determinate tomatoes bloom quick with tons of fruit then dies. Is the knew milk cow a Jersey? We had one when I was a kid. One of the most reliable milk cows ever! 👍

Always enjoy and learn from your videos, Justin. Love your children. Each is so unique and has their own skills and areas they enjoy. Also like how you give them ownership and responsibility over certain areas and animal groups. Your older boys work well both individually and together and always seem to watch over and include the younger children. The fact that they all learn the farm routines for each animal group, plus homeschooling, plus spend time on their own being inventive and creative with less time on electronics except for research abd some evening fun shows just how complex and complete their overall education is. They are blessed with the best of all world's!! They are and are becoming educated, capable, talented, confident young adults . Well done parents!!! Great fort they are building!!

My most rembered moment with a electric fence was the time we was traveling at night and I had to pee, we stopped and I stood by the Clift side and went , it was dark and I didn't see the fence below. All I can say is once the pee hit that fence that was ( game over ) you can't stop and the PAIN. That was 60 years ago and I still rember the pain like it was yousterday.

I really in courage you to start I mean you're in your 40s, even though you don't think it now but life has a has a way of making curves you did not expect, cuz time goes so quick. Even though you do all that you can to be healthy there are still the genetics that you cannot outdo. So I'm really really encourage you to start on your dream home. One thing you can do is cut your tree that you want to use because they take a year to dry at least depending on the type of tree you have. And then I know you don't have to buy expensive wood. What can't wait till next video.
