So proud of Jonah. He was so brave and to here him say “I don’t really watch T.V. “ Was refreshing. Then when he said “ I would rather be doing chores” what work ethics.

Pediatric nurse here! I’m so proud of Jonah and for each of you as you handle new challenges. I love seeing the change in Jonah’s demeanor since being home. His spirits are lifted being around family at home and being on the road to recovery. Now is a good time for Jonah to hone some of those skills like knot tying, whittling, sewing, cooking, even fishing, etc. There’s a lot that can be accomplished while sitting. This will help Jonah to contribute to the family in new ways, as being idle and unable to contribute can lead to a period of depression. Prayers for quick healing physically and also for continuing strides in keeping up his mental health. ❤

To you Josiah, you have shown bright during this entire event of Jonah being injured. I've been watching you and you have this quiet nature about you and a pride of a job well done. Your parents should be very proud of you. To Lily, you do love your animals and you are incredibly motivated to think ahead and do what needs to be done. I was amazed by your ability to prepare and entire meal by yourself. You seem to have a deep love for this life. Bless both of you children. Gideon. You do your part too, but you are still very young. You enjoy watching and learning.

Josiah is really shining during this time. As hard as it is on him to have so many more chores, he is proving what he can do when necessary. Justin, I know you are so proud of him. Lily and Gideon are really stepping up, too. Jonah is doing great, getting up and about, wanting to be outside and really chomping at the bit to get back to chores. Hope he doesn't overdue and set himself back.

Josiah had the BEST idea right away on moving momma pig and the babies. I am VERY PROUD of Josiah! I am also VERY PROUD of Lily! Stepping up as Lady of The House. Making sure everyone is cooked for and fed as well as doing chores and extra chores! These 2 young people are , have and will continue to be the glue that holds the farm together while Jonah recuperates. Just the way Jonah. Josiah and Lily did when Justin was down with Lyme Disease. Jonah is STILL very helpful, instructing Justin with the positioning of the fencing/gates. I know Jonah is getting bored quickly, I hope the healing process isn't rushed or jeopardized by his being bored. Hey I have a son or 2, LOL, when hurt, I know ALL too well how they can be when they think they are ready to get back to doing chores etc. Mama is gonna be Jonah's caretaker and Papa is gonna have to step up and help Josiah and Lily like he has been so Jonah can rest and recuperate properly . Great teamwork everyone!

I am so impressed with your children. Josiah is the pig master. He knows those animals and how to work them. He should be so proud. Gideon is growing up even though he doesn't want to. Taking on responsibility, walking his own path. Little Mr. Independent. And Lily. I continue to be in awe of her. Couldn't believe how she took on the cooking while the two of you were away with Jonah. How you came home to a plate of hot food, the big pile of eggs and bacon and she cooked for all the siblings. And she kept on cooking and cleaning up and taking care of business. Plus she put on her boots and did her chores, too. Little Henry learned how to depend on Lily and loves his Josiah. Jonah needs to let his body have some time to heal and not over do trying to make progress. He needs plenty of vit D to help with absorbing the calcium and plenty of extra vit C to help with the tissue repair. Some arnica wouldn't hurt, too. If you believe in acupunture, getting some treatments for him will also help the soft tissue healing. I am a firm believer and perfect example of how it does work. And now you have the 11 piglets and sheep lambing. Will be a busy time on the farm but good raising all that healthy food for the family. You all take care.

This video showed how well you have raised your children. They all can do so many different chores on the homestead and can pitch in extra when one is hurt. Wise words from Jonah at the end. Rebekah it is so wonderful that Henry is still nursing. I nurse till my kids were not interested any more and that was around 20 months. Back in the 70's people though I was weird but I kept at it anyway. Well done momma, look at all those healthy babies you nursed.

One of your most enjoyable vlogs…a day in the life of Rhodes family. I’m happy that you see it’s Josiah’s time to shine, coming out of Jonah’s shadow. Good Papa hugs and loves on his son, easily expressing affection. All five of the kids are so darling. I love Mama and Papa intuitively knowing the hands on hug time is running short with adolescent Jonah so getting the extra touches and feels in while they still can. What a sweet family unit. I’ve watched you since the beginning a;d it’s incredible to see it’s still better and better. 👏👏♥️♥️

To Jonah ... what an outstanding young man you are; I believe as you grow up you will one day find yourself a pillar of your community, because you were raised within a family that loved you, taught you right and instilled a lifestyle in you that will take even farther! Blessings to you. ❤ To Justin & Rebecca: I’m almost 62 ... I wish so much there had been a homesteading movement 30 years ago; my daughter & sons dad was made for it and I believe he would have thrived in this lifestyle, instead he took his life in Sep 2007, my kids were 18 and 14 at the time, and they both still suffer from the loss. Your family dynamics are perfection (all for one, one for all; y’all stick together for your family and your lifestyle) - and my final thought is that I hope many, many young families will follow your lead.
