This is so ABSOLUTELY beautiful and simple and just so desirable. It looks great on that wrist. Now I want one more then ever. It is true, until you try it on and give it a minute or two it is so hard not to fall in love with that Sandwich dial, that super unique crown guard, simple face set up and just about any strap you put on it. Beautiful watch. I have one Panerai in my collection, the 359. I like it a lot, in fact that is one watch everyone in my family and friend circle unanimously like! I bought my watches not as investments, I bought them just because I love their looks, quality and appeal. There would be opinions about any watch based on personal preferences or from an investment point of view, but if you like it, thats all matters. Wear it well.

Buying a used Panerai from anybody other than an authorized dealer can be a really dangerous activity. The replicas of these watches are so well done that only somebody with a lot of experience servicing these pieces will be able to tell a copy form an original on some of the models. The 111 is particularly risky because the noob factory replica has been refined extensively. (Seven versions) Caveat Emptor, folks!

@@87channels They come from China and Vietnam. I'm not knocking them, I own several. My point is, they're becoming so good that anybody purchasing an expensive vintage piece like a 6538, 6542 or even one of the earlier 5512's, had better be extremely careful.

Great cool video,yes 44mm and eta is a good choice,but I bought a marina militare 3yrs ago to see how it looks and feels it is so amazing I don’t bother to spend out on a panerai so I bought a Rolex but the inexpensive marina is amazing,and Rolex is a much better investment than a Pam.

Awesome video. Like you, (as i understand from your video) I’ve never been overly enamoured with the Panerai oversized jumbo dimension vibe. I didn’t hate them but they didn’t appeal. However, I can see from this video the calm open mindedness with which you approached this purchase. The overcoming of one’s initial misgivings and doubts has a unique pleasure of its very own if one decides that there is something worthy in the final analysis. (I very much appreciate the balance the subdial gives to the enormous trademark crown guard). The strap too compliments/offsets the gun steel aesthetic of the dial and case. As always, I applaud your taste and the life philosophy that is enabled by it (and vice versa).

Excellent video. I’ve had this same watch in my collection for ~12 years and still enjoy it as much as ever. Other watches have come and gone but this one will stay. The versatile strap thing is fun. I recently put my 111 on a nubuck alligator strap and it's a whole new watch. I’ve tried the strap swap thing with Cartier, Rolex and Breitling but it just isn’t the same. I prefer those on the original bracelet/strap they came on.

Trendy Brown Panerai watches have en reputation for being scratchmagnets. Would you agree with that, after having the watch for so long. Or would you not consider it different from any other watch with big surfaces of polished steel?

@@michaelt909 Panerai watches seem unique in that they age well as they gain flea bites and scratches. Nothing has happened to mine in all those years that has diminished it. Recently I sent it in for service as it started running oddly (sometimes fast sometimes slow). I'm sure it was due for service but I never send my watches in until there is a problem. In addition to servicing the movement it came back looking new. They even replaced the sapphire crystal and the documentation said it was replaced due to a scratch and I hadn't noticed that. In any case, it looks brand spankin new. But new or well worn, it's a great looking watch.

I have Rolex, Omega and other brands, including a PAM 111, I love the watch and will not sell it. Panerai has the history, design and materials are great. New ones leave something to be said but you definitely chose the right one.
