I Bought a Rare Audi A8 4.2 V8 Twin Turbo.

Great vid. Very much enjoyed it. From time to time I check out owners reviews on the A8 because I thoroughly miss mine. 4.2 TDI with absolutely every single option on it. Had mine for 7 years and it never went wrong once until one morning before Xmas 2019 the chain went and engine seized. I was told that it would be 2-3k just to pull the engine out to then maybe be told it can’t be fixed. It was a sad day indeed especially because I had a buyer lined up for the A8 as I had a new SQ7 on order that weren’t going to be read till mid January. Had the chain not slipped, no doubt it would still be going strong. In the 7 years of ownership, I put around 80-90k on it but throughout the whole time, it never missed a beat and still managed to perform better than most modern cars. Hands down one of the best and most reliable luxury sedans money can buy and seeing videos like this really puts a massive smile on my face seeing how many people still appreciate the old Audi A8. Long live the Audi V8 diesel!!

I wonder why it slipped. Damn that sucks, my friend had a newer M3 and his got stuck in 1st gear before it hit 100,000 miles.. he took great care of it too, boy was he pissed. He did mash the piss out of the gas pedal tho, it was such a fun car. He then sold it and bought a brand new jeep SRT. I thought the Jeep was actually much funner

I just bought A 2006 A8L with every option, got a few problems including the front air suspension but once that's fixed I hope it'll be a fun car. I was so relieved to hear that the 2006 has a timing belt instead of chain, the repairs are a fraction of the chain replacement.

I have an 06 Quattro A8 - They burn thru tire and the air suspension is well an air suspension - bought it about 15 years ago, outside of suspension and a power steering line no real issues and I put over 100k miles on it. HOWEVER - 1 PRO TIP for A8 Owners - Make sure to have a spare key - if your battery goes bad yeah your not getting in :) - If you don't want to get a fob key, a locksmith can make you a trunk key only - as that is where the battery is at

When you were dressed up for the Audi HQ section, you reminded me of my brother-in-law. lol. Your Audi is a great looking car. My friend is an editor for a well-known car magazine in the UK, and I remember him buying a Audi A8 4.0 V8 TDi, and I was very impressed with it, it even had the fingerprint scanner. It actually appeared on KZbin a month ago, competing against the Jag XJ8, on a channel called classics world. I have the same engine in my 2009 Q7 Tdi , it is my work truck , always towing a 2.8 ton trailer. Done 45,000 miles in 2.5 years and love it , although the q7 was 3 times what you paid ! A little idea , I added a £30 "bluemusic" dongle to the ami plug in the glove box and it streams music perfectly every time. Way better than my wife's 2018 Merc E220

Hi John, I've had a leaky rear light. Attempted a cheap(ish) fix which I'll show in the update video. Didn't go all that well. Luckily no suspension issues yet....

Best car ever IM in love with mine but any problem with cant reach on the top have to remove the engine and turbo oil pipes its a reál pain. If its start leaking oil it will be a overall 2000euro problem.

Oddly enough- my dad was a commander at RAF Lakenheath. He is American Indian & Irish descent, so imagine his look with a southern accent...you know what drives me nuts when American KZbinrs call interior door panels "Door cards." Waiting for them to start calling trunks "Boots" or hoods "Bonnets" in order to sound more 'sophisticated.' Oddly enough, I own a GT350, a D2 A8L, a D4 A8L with APR goodies, an F350 Super Duty that is crew cab with a Warn bumper & 12K lbs winch (ex-cattle ranch truck) - the Audi's I inherited and have some vintage cars & an re-vamped Travco 320 RV. Painfully American in some ways, I know

It is more unusual/rare, Ebony Pearl with a tutone brown interior, progressive-rate sport springs & Bilsteins, Konig Hypergram wheels, Magnaflow rear muffler with dual-wall stainless tips, a small trunk lip spoiler (a la 2000 M5-style) . It has a very timeless style. The D4 is dark grey, more subtle. It's a bit quicker, more modern, loaded luxury. Long road trips? D4. Around the local area, trips of 5 hours or less? D2

I think the BMW 335d X-drives are the best performance bargain with outstanding economy. Not too big, not to heavy... 0-60 in 4.6s 313 whores power 640 niminims of talk. And mine averages 37mpg
