I'm one of the few car freaks who love the C-Class. I drove a C230 Kompressor loaner in 1999 and have wanted one ever since. This was a great AMG choice! The W202s are usually trashed so it's becoming more rare to find good ones to buy no matter the miles. Thanks for the entertaining vids!

Unlike the C36, which was in fact a "ready-to-sell" C280 disassembled for tuning at the AMG factory, the C43 was the first AMG car to be completely assembled at the AMG plant after the acquisition of AMG by Daimler-Benz in 1998.
@kfstreich47877 жыл бұрын
0:47 I've been trying to explain this for years, but I do believe you missed a step, it really isn't a proper adventure unless the seller is convinced it won't make it around the block much less a thousand mile road trip home.

Always loved the w202 design. A C36 and/or C43 has been on my wishlist for so long. Nice buy!
@2phast7 жыл бұрын
FYI, the 1995 C36 was the only C36 to utilize the 722.4, 4 speed transmission. It was sourced from the E420, not the E500. Also, while the C36 was the first coop between Mercedes and AMG for the US, the actual first coop was the 1992 190e 3.2l and the 300E 3.4l, both marketed and sold through Mercedes dealers in Europe. These also predate the W124 E36 which another viewer posted about (from 1994). Prior to these first coop vehicles, in Europe, you could visit a Mercedes dealer and order a vehicle and choose from a list of AMG options to be installed. Starting in 1992, these ala carte options were encoded in the VIN of the vehicle prior to delivery.

Good car, I bought one about 4 years ago for £1200 here in Ireland with 150k miles on it and loads of history, a dealer took it as a trade in and sold it as trade sale as didn't really want it. What a great car for the money, had fun, track day'd it a few times. Really reliable, gearbox made of concrete, you could abuse it all day at the track and it would always drive home. Did a couple of regular services on it and sold it after 18 months to a guy who uses it the same way as I did and it's still going strong, seen it the other day and tempted to buy it t back! It's silver as well of course!

Looks to be in good condition for the year. As the owner of a 5.4l swapped C43 I don't understand everyone that says these cars are expensive to maintain. Like anything else, spend a little more up front for one with up to date maintenance and it costs the same as a Toyota or Honda to keep on the road. These are nice cars when cared for, the challenge is finding one that has been cared for.

Early to mid 90s AMG cars like this are a must pickup if you can afford them,they are mechanically solid,pretty quick and will last if you pick a well sorted one. The build quality on these cars alone is well worth it,I had a 94 e320 for almost 10 years that got totalled recently from a rear end collision. I miss it dearly.

Yes sir!! Recently I bought a 66 hard top 44K original miles. clean, straight body nice paint. For $4400. I was assuming that was a decent price for a vintage car of that era with low miles...? Only issues are some rust in the trunk area and the major issue is power windows, vents, seats also dash lights don't work also a/c.. Any suggestions or knowledge with those issues with T-birds from that generation? Any feedback would be helpful thanks. Peace!

As my alias inplies, among other Mercs, I've been the proud owner of an even rarer 97 C36 w/ the 5 sp. I also bought it sight unseen in FL and drove it cross country to CA. Not disclosed and unknown to me before close of auction, was that it had a misfire due to a worn ignition coil wire which was shorting to the block. I almost had instant buyers remorse after a few cases where the car would stall. But after over 2 yrs., I've come to love it for it's flaws. And savage 287 ft. Lbs. of torque!!

I am not sure you are right about this being the first production AMG. Just before this car, (I think) merc's done a W124 E class E36 to test the market. If you think your car is rare, then you should try and look for one of these. They were in standard trim apart from uprated seats and did not have any AMG decals. (Think that's how you spell decal) I have only seen estates but had heard of saloons as well. On a different subjects, the parts micro fish was wrong for the head gasket for this car and told you it was a standard one. A number of cars were fitted with the wrong gasket under advice of merc's and this caused major problems such as overheating and ended up in engine swaps. I however saw that there was a special version that was not linked to the micro fish. I informed merc's for there mistake and the changed the parts catalog. I know this is a stretch but it is my only claim to fame. How ever look out for one of the W124 E36. The European chassis number started WDB124136 I thing for the wagon and WDB124036 for the saloon. Bet the oil leak was the front timing case seal and o ring. 😀
