Very cool. Just remember that if or when you no longer want this specimen that you donate it to a natural history museum rather than selling it or giving it away. That's the best way for fossils to be looked after imo

And I would also buy an airtight glass display case to store the fossil in to prevent any damage from moisture or particles in the air. Sedimentary rock can be very fragile

Why would he donate it to some museum so they can charge people at the front door an arm and a leg to see it and make money off of others for greedy money gain. Maybe "SALE" it to someone, or "SALE IT" to the Museum for even more money, I would TAX the Museum since they charge people to look at things. That's just my opinion on this topic, you dont have to take my advise, I just wanted to plant the seed in your head so you know you have other options. Peace and blessings to you all

@@shakirbayanzai2274 There’s a lot of drama in the paleontology community about the purchase of fossils for recreation, and the general consensus is that you shouldn’t. Fossils are not only rare but important, they teach us about the past, and we can only learn from them when they are available for study, which they won’t be if they’re locked away in a collectors case. When a fossil is donated it isn’t immediately put in a display, it’s carefully analyzed, casts are made, etc. and because there isn’t any profit from just studying bones, they have to charge you, think of it more as a donation than a fee. Otherwise we wouldn’t know all of the things we do today about our past, and by extension our future.

That’s very impressive, and I like that it came with a custom stand. However, I’d encourage people to look at their local geology and find out what fossils they can find. I’ve been fossil hunting properly over the last 4 years, and I’ve built up quite a collection. My fossils all come from the country I live in (being England). I’ve found thousands of sharks teeth over that time (they are around 40 million years old), remains of crocodile, turtle, mammoth, flint tools from ancient humans, and my favourite being the dinosaur bones I’ve all found myself. This hobby is both very enjoyable, healthy, and fulfilling when you find what you are looking for. I still remember finding my first Iguanodontid bone that had washed out onto the beach at low tide and I could belief my eyes. Since then I’ve found way more bones, and continuing doing.

Note its not an actual bone but a fossil of a bone, the original bone is dissolved away and replaced by minerals so its a natural cast of a dinosaur bone.

Humerus of Edmontosaurus and the company is very reputable. Not every element in fossil dinosaur bone is completely replaced by inorganic minerals through the process of fossilization. Ther still remains some organic compounds remaining, and some specimens even have evidence of soft tissue residue.

AWESOME unboxing of an absolutely EPIC Item! I am fascinated by all things Nature and have quite a large rock and mineral collection . I do have a good number of fossils and indeed , I am humbled to be in the presence of something so unfathomably old. I don't own any fossils that are super expensive ( 40 dollars tops ) but still feel fortunate to have them . I once had a much larger rock , mineral, and fossil collection that I lost several years back in a house fire . Some of the specimens I lost I had since I was a child when I first "got hooked" on rocks, minerals ,fossils and sea shells . I've managed to rebuild my collection somewhat but not yet to the extent of my former collection . In my former collection , I had a several professional grade /museum worthy specimens . I am leery of trying to acquire anything super expensive now.

Yes, THEY ARE fossilized Bison bones over 40 thousand years old . I could have gotten Mammoth bones too but those are quite valuable and Laws severely restrict owning Mammoth remains. Not so much Bison bone however. I cannot imagine getting anything more than 40 bucks for one of the larger Bison bones . I got them because they are cool .
