Very nice review. Everything said is right to the point. I also have the same iMac as you. My only concern is two fold; will 8gb of RAM be enough down the road as I ramp up editing 4K video? Secondly, I'm a bit concerned about "swap used". You can view that when you bring up "Activity Monitor." Basically, it's when the system uses some of the space on SSD memory when it becomes labor intensive where 8gb of RAM is put to its limits. Some have said that over time this will have a negative affect on your SSD drive. I'm not an expert, by any means, just relating what I've learned from knowledgable individuals here on KZbin. Will opting for 16gigs of RAM alleviate this? Probably will, according to tech reps from Apple. Still time for me to change it out. Right now all seems fine, even with minor 4K video editing. But my video editing will become more intense. Not sure if the 8gb iMac will handle it or not.

What you said is absolutely correct about the wear and tear on your sad and 16gb of ram should mitigate having to use your ssd as often. I hate that you have to swap out your entire system just to upgrade the ram. While the 8gb does use the swap used function more often, ssd’s are rated for a lot of cycles so you could probably be fine with that for a long time. It’s up to you if you want to go ahead and swap it out for a model with 16gb. Of course more ram is always better. Thanks for watching

@@techspec1 I think it makes sense for down the road. 8GB of RAM is OK if you are doing web surfing etc, but for intense video editing, it will only put undo pressure on the chip. Fortunately I have time remaining for the return. Thank you for replying, and all the best with your channel.

Thanks for being neutral about 8 v 16 GB of RAM. helps me know that eight of ram will be sufficient for me and that I don’t have to return my computer and Get 16 because almost every KZbinr tells me too.
