I have been anti specialized for their marketing claims. I have owned and ridden numerous bikes including BMC Racemachine, BMC Teammachine, Pinarello Dogma F8, BMC Teammachine SLR_01, Bastion Road and the most recent bike is the S works SL8. I think if anyone I would have some creditability in saying that SL8 is the fastest and lightest road disc bike I have ridden, it is not as fast as all out aerobikes but it is lighter and more comfortable. I work bloody hard my career so I like to spoil myself with my bikes. I would say specialized Tarmac SL8 would set the benchmark for all modern road disc bikes. I am confident that you would enjoy your SL8. On a second note, how do you find your CRW 5060 wheels? I probably would get them based on your reply!
@claudiolima2247 ай бұрын
My favourite thing about the SL8 is that it allowed me to get the SL7 at 40% discount 😊 Couldn't agree more about going for the 10r version rather than the sworks version which is the most expensive way to save ~100 grams!

Liked your opinion compared to the S-Works. I see on Specialized site S-Works frame set is $5,500 and supply is not good. I am still thinking about a performance upgrade to my Trek Domane 2020 with SRAM Force Endurance bike. Is there any reason a recreational nerd would benefit from S-Works?
@PatrickLino7 ай бұрын
I don't like to police customers' buying decisions. Whatever inspires people to ride their bikes more. And if spending $5500 does that then I'm on board. The mean reasons are lighter, stiffer, and brand cache. That "S-Works" logo means a lot to certain people. I just can't justify the costs myself since I don't keep bikes for very long.

@PatrickLino5 ай бұрын
I seen your post in Weight Weenies earlier today. The FD hanger/bolts weighs 9 grams. And cage bolts probably weigh less than one gram each. So we are talking like 14 grams combine. I can't imagine there's extra 85g moving up one size to a 58, but perhaps that's simply for added rigidity rather than negligence or paint overspray.
