Hey randy. I live in an area with hills and snow. I had one of these, a white 1997, for years. It was a great car, never had any problems in over 260k, and for a small light car it was a tank in the snow. Rust was becoming an issue, but the end of the car was, I parked in on the street overnight and it was stolen. Never found, never saw it again. I’m actually glad you didn’t launch the Subaru, once you found that it could still run and drive even in the condition that it’s in, seeing that happen would have been a shame. Granted, from a business perspective there’s nothing really there except for if you felt like it’d be worth content to work on and send back out, but with as many viewers as you have I can’t see how someone wouldn’t be interested in seeing that, as well as maybe wanting an inexpensive all wheel drive vehicle, especially with car prices being what they are these days. Regardless, I’m really glad it’s still not any worse than when you got it, actually it’s already better since you got rid of all that was inside of it. 👍🏻

About a decade ago I picked up a '90 or so Cutlass Ciera from an impound auction in Fort Worth. It was impounded when the driver was arrested for active warrants but ended up at the tow company's lot. So it ran with a jump and I stayed in to $225. Drove it about 35 miles back home from auction with my wife following. Once back at the house I finally opened the trunk...found two loaded handheld cordless hole punchers, several different car stereos, a couple canes, zippered 3 ring binder full of court papers and tickets and such, and a TON of decent tools and tool boxes along with lockpicking equipment. I figure the previous owner liked to dabble in burgling and the police never searched that car and didn't bother taking inventory at all before selling it. Maybe they should have. Either way I sold off the car stereos on eBay, the 22 and 32 handhelds on another auction site, and some of the excess tools I didn't need through CL. Then got $150 selling the car to a local scrap guy because the subframe was crunched pretty good leading to the trans case cracking. I could've maybe JB welded the case to keep the fluid in it long enough to drive daily but why bother on what at the time was already a 21 year old car trashed inside and out. I did keep the tach cluster from it and I think I still have an Audiovox cassette stereo that came out of that trunk. Definitely still have and use some of those tools, including the clear yellow handle vintage Proto screwdriver I use every couple days to tighten the screws on my Lincoln's door panels so they don't catch on the door sill and keep the door from opening. Just cheap ass car things, I mean, if you know you know.
