100K means...Brakes, tranny fluid replacement, belts, differential fluid replacement, plugs. coolant all needs to be replace. that is 4-5K. That is the typical 100K maintenance which can be done by a DYI.
@mrapter72 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely, you’re right, I’ve got new coolant, tranny was due at 120k, diffs at 120k, I already have new belts and plugs and coils! Brakes are new as well Just need to finish up the 4matic flush this month and I’ll be golden ❤️

I just bought the 2012 E550 coupe, AMG package recently. It’s an absolute animal on the winter roads here in Canada. It’s on summer tires but I have winters being shipped. Even w RDW she drives like nothing else I’ve owned, including older SUVs. I was considering a tune, but I was worried how it would effect reliability. It’s got about 75K miles (126K KM). Just got some upgraded Brembos all around too; just need to instal. Any advice for my next move? Should I tune her? Maybe change the exhaust and intake?
@mrapter72 жыл бұрын
Remove the large resonator with x pipe / straight pipe and leave the rest stock, or cut the mufflers and leave everything as it is. Both give a great rumble sound without drone. Tune it. Not an issue at all. These things are insanely detuned from the factories. Stick with a stage 1 software only tune, get some intake spacers (will be making a short on my DIY solution) and high airflow filters. This will net you 500+ hp and close to 700 lb ft. Just check your driveline, shaft, flex discs and bearings as they can start to wear after 75k stock, let alone tuned. You won’t have any problems with a stage 1 tune that wouldn’t happen stock. Boost for the most part stays the same (according to my reading unit) it’s other parameters that get changed. I’ve had a Eurocharged stage 1 and have been very happy with it all around. Plenty of power for a daily driver and 0 reliability issues. Maybe change your oil every 3-5k like I do, get some fresh diff / trans oil and filters and send her. She’s a great car. Just don’t launch hard from 0 with 4matic at every light unless you hate money.

These are pretty cheap in Belgium because when you register it its over 6000 dollars and annual taxes of 2500ish. It based upon power and its plainly evil.
@mrapter7 Жыл бұрын
Or engine displacement - emissions and such. I get it, but it’s not fair. My annual taxes on this car is around $350 USD. Registering it was just 6.35% of the difference between my trade in car and this car. So I paid about $30 in taxes. Don’t worry I’m paying for it in repairs 😂😂
@dannyjayke8695 Жыл бұрын
No different from the uk not that we get the e550 but most v8’s the tax is £600-700 or £330 for 6 months tax a year insurance £900-£1500 a year

Make sure there's no oil leak in your harness, otherwise it'll ruin the entire harness and you'll have to drop the entire engine. $11k repair bill

My friend says I should grip 2011 or lower because the engines are hand built 1 mechanic
@mrapter7 Жыл бұрын
This is completely incorrect. The only hand built engines are AMG engines and they use forged internals like in the m157 that is very close to the 278. The 2011 or lower e550 is far better due to it having a much simpler engine. No turbos, just good ol V8 that lasts a long long time. Not hand built.

I actually have a video coming out that’s goes over some of the hot points of the w212 and 550 models, subscribe to see it this week! I would definitely look private party, and do your due diligence when it comes to a history report. Find the dealer it was serviced at for the majority of its life and ask for their records. The w212 is pretty robust when looked after. I wouldn’t be too scared of one. Thanks for the comment and subscribe so you can see the next video, I think it’ll really help you!

Really no air suspension. Where do you find a E550 without air suspension 🤔
@mrapter72 жыл бұрын
I found this private party, in my hometown. I should tell the story on a new video. It’s kind of a love story and fate 😂 This guy bought it with 91k miles, and specifically had the dealership find one that was optioned without Air Suspension as he didn’t want to deal with it at about 90k miles. Glad I didn’t have to do the conversion!

@@mrapter7 wow your lucky lol. I love the w212 but I’m in love with the 09 w211. They say it’s pretty reliable. I see a 09 e 550 with like 145,000 miles on it and I don’t know if it’s a good idea to purchase however I’m considering a 09 e 350 because of well less issues 🤷🏾♂️
@mrapter72 жыл бұрын
The 550s from that year are very reliable. I’d imagine just as much as the 350 - all about maintenance! I have some guys in a group who have over 200k on the w211 versions. I think the w211 styling is timeless compared to the 212, but I wanted a more modern car and technology. Either way German muscle outweighs dime a dozen scat packs any day

Sounds like a good deal. Dealer or private? I’d look into getting a 12mo warranty just for the unexpected in a new car. Read the fine print on what it covers! You’ll love it. I really love the facelift cars when done right. But the pre facelift is unique! Get her tuned!
