Thanks bro! I was really happy to find and save the old girl! Can’t wait to upload part 2 for you guys! Still unsure if I want to spend the time repainting it or not.. or if I wanna just soak it with “Lin-seed oil” to protect the current patina and save myself a lot more time.. it’s pretty amazing it still has its original paint and has not been messed with or covered up.. so I’m thinking maybe I should keep it that way since it’s never been tampered with yet. What do you think?

Thanks Ron! I agree about the manual.. just being able to see all the maintenance procedures.. the types of oils and grease and the amount of oil that goes in the gearbox, trans, engine, etc. alone is VERY good to have.. also like how it shows where every single grease fitting is.. cuz there’s alot!

Thanks buddy! I agree you just can’t kill these old Clark’s! The manual was a super nice find.. the ONLY one I could find on eBay once I punched the model numbers in.. I knew I had to jump on it as it may have been my only chance of ever getting a manual to match this machine.. and boy does it have some great info in it.. much more than I woulda ever thought! Thanks for watching + stay tuned!

After I retired from Law Enforcement I worked at a Veneer Mill for another 20 years and drove forklifts for most of those years and although we did have some very old Clark lifts fortunately I was able to use brand new lifts from Clark, Yale and my favorite was actually from Korea which was a Daewoo. You will be pleasantly surprised as to what these little machines can lift. I also worked another 12 years for WalMart catching Shoplifters but now at 70 the only thing I do is drive Amish to work or shopping and enjoy my BX and the Grand Kids. Looking forward to part 2.

Hey man thanks for a little history on yourself! Very cool! There’s nothing wrong with taking it easy now at your age and enjoying life a little! Sometimes I can’t wait to be at that age where I can work a little less haha. Sounds like you have had a very accomplished life and lots to be proud of and I’m sure you could tell a lot of amazing story’s! Im glad you have your BX which you can still enjoy running that and it can bring you the same type of pleasure as when you ran forklifts full time! Happy Easter to you and your family!

Thanks buddy! I was super happy to find and be able to safe this old girl! The guy that had it got it off an old farmer who owned it for many years and I believe it was always stored inside while he had it which I attend to why it’s still in such great shape for its age.. I think it only had a handful of owners in all its years and I feel that the hours aren’t as much as you’d expect for a machine this old even tho it would be impossible to know for sure. Can’t wait to go through it all and get her running like new again with you guys. Great first project for the new shop too!

Just a word of advice that I'm sure you have thought about. Run the negative cable to the block and then run a 8 gauge wire to the body. The gauges and ignition switch maybe the new LED lights don't need a 4 gauge ground the starter does though. Glad you got it and now you can shop for pallet racking and a more comfortable bed for Diesel.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment Жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy! Yah I def plan to ground the engine to the frame, and then ground the battery to the frame as well.. my plan is basically to modernize the wiring as much as I can.. add a couple flood lights too on the mast and I may even convert it over to propane some day if I keep it. I’d also like to make some custom side panels for it since the original ones have been lost which is a bunmer

Very cool Ed! Sounds like it was very similar only I made sure this forklift had the “big wheels” in the front which helps it to get along on gravel driveways or uneven ground a bit better (so long as it’s not wet/soft). They concidered these machines to be indoor and outdoor only it was primarily made for indoor because of the hard rubber tires.. if you wanted a pure outdoor machine you’d have to go with a machine with knumatic tires.

@BiffsEquipment Жыл бұрын
Thanks Aaron glad to hear it! I use a couple of old GoPros.. one is a hero 9 black and it’s a piece of garbage.. don’t buy the 9.. I ended up whipping it at a wall and broke the one screen on it cuz it froze for the 100th time and I lost footage.. now I’m down to just my old reliable GoPro hero 7 black which is my oldest camera and the one I bascislly started my channel with.. it works ok, has great picture quality but it crashes sometimes also.. just nowhere near as bad as the 9th Gen. I hear the 10 and 11 are much better and they fixed the issues but I have just yet to get one. Stay safe!

Most of the old Clark’s around here were sort of a lime green colour. Fun project. Have you got it figured out where your going to put the muffler stack. 🤔😳 Have a great day.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment Жыл бұрын
Thanks Noel. Yah I think after the late 60s more from the 70s to 80s Era they changed the color to green and sometimes yellow towards the end of the 80s I think.. I did like that like green color as well.. I havnt decided if I’m gonna paint it or not.. it’s all orginal as far as the paint goes and I almost hate to make it look gawdy if I paint it and it don’t turn out quite like I hoped cuz there’s no going back.. so I’m thinking I may just scrape and brush it down and then coat the entire forklift in lin-seed oil.. an oil based product that protects bare metal and rusty metal as well as darkens old paint to preserve the patina.. just havnt decided yet.

Hi Mike..... million dollar question what COLOR. Kubota orange ??
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment Жыл бұрын
Haha, hey Gary! I am still actually unsure if I want to paint it or not yet.. I may hold off til I get it fully mechanical sound and use it a bit.. only because painting it and doing it right will take a lot of time and if I end up not using it as much as I think I would or selling/trading it then painting it may not help much and will just cost a lot of time and energy.. but I’m considering it. I would def like to paint it if I kept it tho. Also the paint it’s got now is fully orginal.. which is pretty mind blowing .. so I’m not sure if I wanna disturb it or not.. or if I wanna just oil or cower coat it to keep the patina? Not too sure but the more we get into it the more I’ll know what I wanna do as far as paint. Thanks for the support!

Haha 😂 that’s funny that you mention it because on the very first panel I removed I knew not even to bother with metric sockets and wrenches! Out of all the bolts I removed so far the only single bolt that was metric was one that the previous owner had installed lol. I plan to put all new hardware on when we put it back together cuz all the old hardware is rusted and trash. Stay safe and thanks for watching!
