It's not a big deal to fix the harness. You don't need to go and buy a harness than extend the missing part of the wires and solder them and wrap them with the insulating tape, but pay attention to the wire gauges and color matching.
@chrisvig123 Жыл бұрын
Yup just rebuild the harness…but I would solder and shrink wrap every wire…he has easy access might take a day of work
@iandalton3839 Жыл бұрын
Yep, what he said. Repair it. I certainly would.
@xavierpilier57122 ай бұрын
The fact the he thinks he needs a brand new harness tells you he hasn't worked on cars long enough. But it is a fairly easy repair with minimal expense.
@johnrocco5315 Жыл бұрын
You can fix that harness yourself. Shrink wrap, crimp tool, solder gun. Will take time , but way way cheaper. You can also check the wire for continuity as you go.

That harness is very repairable! Don’t spend the 9k on a new one. That is a pretty straightforward repair adding your own sections where missing.

Heat shrink solder barrels/ butt connectors may work for some of the wiring harness. Just a thought. Love the videos keep going strong!

When working at the shop ( in Massachusetts, I live in Daytona ) we use a place called force 5 auto. It's a VW Audi salvage yard out of Concord NH. I've been lucky with them, they once found me a complete nose for the V8 S4. I mean complete, as in they cut the car just past the shifter and shipped it, suspension and all. All I needed was bumper, hood, headlights and reinforcements. Great video, good luck

Go colour (color) for colour (color) on the harness and just solder them back together with solder connectors. Just stagger the joints. Then Tesa tape them. Should be simples.

I think I'd be enlisting the help of an auto electrician. If the wires are all colour coded, I'd be joining it together myself. Go for it Tim. I spent 1 year working away from home sleeping in the back of an Audi A4 Avant estate. 200k on the clock and it drove like a new car.
@henryp9600 Жыл бұрын

why replace that broken harness? why not just solder, heat shrink all the wires back together? Its on the inside of the car, and for $9000 you should give it a shot. you could also repair the hood and fender too. The bumper skin is missing too much so you'll have to buy that part.
