I bought a retro motorhome that was left abandoned for 10 years!!! I show you how I got it started then I take it for a short road trip before unveiling the retro interior.

Love this. I just bought a 1984 chevy jamboree. Tearing the roof off now because it was leaking. Hopefully everything will go well for me. 😁

I’ve gotten a 1985 Coachman completely demolished and I thought it would be a smooth start but so much water damage underneath the walls

Honestly that RV looks stunning for its age. I’ve seen ones that look way better on the outside but are completely rotten on the inside. You definitely scored on this one.

I have a 1973 Dodge RV Winnebago. It is ugly outside and dissent inside. Needs hot water pipes replaced and fix the water pump. The weather has gotten to it.

Oh did he ever I friggin wish mine looked half that flipped great ! I have to rebuild from floor to roof because of the black carpenter ants, the idiot mechanics that hacked and slashed, and burned wires, rebuild the body frame inside the r.v. camper area, insulate, rebuild and fix the hacked quadra jet carburetor ..... Your Sooooo dam lucky on your find pray that he doesn't have 1/10th the issues I do lol

*The Ford '460' is an indestructible monster...but VERY thirsty!* *The cast-iron 'C-6' transmission is also reliable as long as the 'bands' aren't over-stressed from steep-climbing while 'floored'* ---------------------- *Looks like what it is...an endless $$$$$$$$$ funnel and tons of re-hab in and out* ( *I haven't had an 'RV' in years and can no longer afford one on 'SS' money and can't think of anywhere to go and scared of 'break-downs' I can't possibly pay-for, especially something that won't fit a standard lift in most garages* )

What type of coolant does it take? I just bought a 1976 Chevy Rv and I’m wondering if the orange coolant is dex cool or not. Also why brake cleaner and water into the carb vs starter fluid?
@thehonestmechanic2 жыл бұрын
I used a coolant that is safe for aluminum since my radiator is aluminum. I don't think it's necessarily to run something like dexcool
@thehonestmechanic2 жыл бұрын
As for starting the engine for the first time, all we had was brake cleaner. Starting fluid is better of course. The water bottle had gasoline in it.

Sorry but can't help noticing that you guys have a desire to get your fingers burned 🤕the way you guys spill feul while trying to start the rv and adding feul into the carburettor while cranking the engine. Hey guys, what happens to safety first?🤷

You're absolutely right! I should have added: do not try this at home! Things could have got south fast.....

Lol. I have already done a carb clean and installed a new kit. During cleaning, I broke the one mixture screw. It runs better than ever but it's no longer properly adjustable
