Maurice (who is Dreaming Robots) is amazing to work with. He is really great about posting videos and answering questions and puts a ton of thought into the designs and refinements. He has very active Ravelry and FB groups, and his customers are also great about helping others who are just getting started on their spinning journey with his products. They are a very welcoming bunch. I've had my EEW 6 for just a couple of weeks and love it! He also has a great yarn counter, and is just finishing up a kickstarter for a conewinder. He publishes 3D printer plans for bobbins for free for anyone who has access to a printer and wants to make their own bobbins. I can't say enough about how lovely he is!

If anyone is concerned about it moving, sew up a small square bag that will fit in the base and fill it with aquarium gravel making sure you can still assemble the base to the top before stitching it shut. I use that gravel for a lot of things because it seems to be heavier than pellets and definitely not as expensive. I use gravel bags to weight down my warps when working on my heddle looms for tension. I use them for gluing things to put pressure on them while drying. Just a suggestion. Works for me. I think I will buy this spinner. I have the Super Jumbo Ashford and it's too large for the first spins. Probably better for plying. This spinner however looks perfect. After all, it's twisting yarn with the same principle and I think it will be great. Love the bat you are working from. That will make a beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing.

I have had an EEW 6.0 for about 9 months now and I love it ! I was skeptical at first but now I'm hooked. I keep it set up and whenever I have a spare 15 or 20 minutes waiting to let the dog in after his walk, I spin. I've done more spinning in the last 9 months than I did in the previous 4 years before that. I was renting a room when I lived in Oregon and it was such a hassle to drag out my wheel and find a place to set it up, spin and then have to put it away when I was done for the day. If I'd had the EEW 6.0, I know I would have set it up once and then been able to spin whenever I wanted. Maurice is so responsive to his customers and is extremely helpful when there are any issues. He also has files that can be downloaded so people with 3D printers can make their own bobbins and some other accessories. I don't regret my purchase for a minute, wish I had done it sooner. Good luck Trish !

I was so excited to see this pop up! I may have been talking to the you in the video while you opened it. 😂 I got the recommended battery to make it suuuuper portable, and it not only fits perfectly in the base, but it gives it a really good heft. The battery lasts forever and charges quickly, so I rarely have my spinner attached to an outlet. I loved how simple it was to assemble, and how it had little touches to make it more user friendly (like the magnet in the base to hold on to your orifice hooks). I find it easier to put the drive band on by hooking the bottom of it with my index finger and making a circle around the motor part (pulley?) with that finger. Woolee Winder doesn’t make an auto winder for them, but there are other brands out there who do! Enjoy!

I've got the EEW6 as my first and only wheel, and I absolutely LOVE it! The base is perfect to put a power bank inside. (I have mine velcro-ed in there). As for it's little quirks, they are notorious for chewing thru brake bands! That's why they send an extra. It has something to do with the seam on the bobbin from how it was molded. The extra spring that is included is just a tad bit smaller than the one that is already on it. The reason for that is to have lighter tension settings for spinning super fine yarns. And the hex wrench, I believe, is for changing out the motor if you ever need to replace it. There are some set up, troubleshooting and FAQ video links on the website. Happy Spinning everyone! Trish, I hope you enjoy your 6 as much as I do! ❤️😁👍

I didn't even hit play and had to just write...HOLY COW girl, can't believe you jumped in with both feet and bought one of these lol. I think prototypes may have been 3D printed but I think those are injection molded plastic. They didn't used to put those bearings in. The base has enough room to hold a power bank in there. I forgot those have the new on/off thingy instead of a foot pedal. You can get an autowinder for those but they cost more than the spinner. Don't forget, there are magnets on the machine that holds the orifice hook. It should quiet down but I did notice it's louder than my nano for some reason. Have fun with that!!

No need to use tape on the leader either. I just inserted the other end of the leader into the bobbin tube while assembling the bobbins and screwed the other end in place. Easy. I’ve been in love with my EEW6.0 ever since I bought it from the original kickstarter. ❤

5:40. I’m gonna wager it takes you under 8minutes to be spinning with EEL6. I carefully considered which espinner to get in 2021 and settled on the EEL6. it arrived on my birthday week and promptly went back ordered in stock. How lucky was this girl!?❤ I love the little gadget and I hope you do too. Ok, let’s watch the video……okay the timing starts after you get the fern package open. Ok the hook’s are different from 2021 aaaannnd the switch is improved! slip a recharging battery in the base and you have plenty of weight…. Thanks for the leader attachment tip! Ok, I was off by 10-12 minutes but ain’t it fun?!?!

I just got one last month too and am really liking it. I ended up buying the battery pack Maurice recommends that fits really well in the base. I like the ability to use it with fewer cords attached and the freedom of not being dependent on a nearby outlet, but the weight of it in the base made a huge difference for me too, so I am basically leaving it in there even if I use it corded. It doesn't move at all for me anymore and is quieter as a result. I also found there are a few different videos out there on the dreaming robots channel that are helpful tips and tricks, etc. The facebook group is really helpful too.

The base holds a battery so that you can spin without being tethered to a wall. It also gives the wheel more weight in the bottom. I got rid of the cotton brake band, and switched to paracord! I cut it to the length I wanted, pulled the inner strings out, braided three of them together, and use that as my break band. I made it extra long so that I just need to advance the band when it looks like it’s going to fray. I love my EE6. I also have a Daedalus Starling (their medium wheel) and a Sparrow (the one that is comparable to the EE6). I love their wheels, but they are an investment! They’ve recently purchased more 3D printers, so their waiting list for the Magpies should go quickly now. Hopefully by the time I’m ready for one, they’ll be available immediately. 💜

I had a Nano, then hubby ordered me the 6. It arrived the day after the fire. I love it! I needed a wheel I could use without tiring the new knees and it's perfect for that. Still very portable. I think my Nano was too small for what I wanted. I put suction cups on the nano because I'd pull it off the table while spinning. I also burned out 2 motirs on the Nano in a year. I think they come with bigger motors now... But the 6, I've had no problems with it at all.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for getting this and reviewing. I started on your channel with weaving but now am wanting to learn spinning but equipment is prohibitive for me. I've done Navajo spindle before but I want the speed and practicality of a wheel and the "cheep" ones are twice the price of this. I look forward to your further review of it. I probably will get it, and it will be my only wheel for some time, but I didn't want the size limitations of the nano if this can do everything, which is my understanding of its possibilities....

I love my EEW 6.0. I think the instructions talk about putting the bearing into the bobbin is because sometimes, they come out in shipping. The base is made to hold a battery pack. You can find out what type is best on the DreamingRobots website or over on their Ravelry group if you're on Ravelry. I've found that the EEW 6.0 has a pretty substantial weight once you get a battery pack to put into the base. I have never had my wheel move around on me even without the battery pack though. I hope you have lots of fun spinning with your new wheel! I think you might be surprised by how much can be spun onto those bobbins. It's quite a lot.

I've had my EEW 6 for about a year and a half and I love it so much. From watching people spin with the Hansen and the Ashford, I know it's not exactly the same experience, but the EEW has done everything I've asked of it. I put it in one of those little rolling craft carts (so it can go anywhere I go) and put a garden kneeling pad under it to raise it up a bit, but it stays put beautifully. I did have to replace the brake band after 6 or 8 months or so and I forgot about the extra they sent, I just got some twine at the hardware store and it works just fine. The footswitch I have is the same as a sewing machine so I am super jelly of your new sleek one, maybe I'll order one, just so that we can be twinsies!🤪🤣🤣 Hope you love it too though I know it won't ever replace your Hansen. My issues with Daedalus were similar to yours. Also, it was very expensive (even though I only eyed on the Sparrow), and to bring it to Finland I would've faced several hundreds of increase to the price in the form of shipping, customs and taxes. I could buy the Eew 6 from inside EU so that was easier and cheaper. I bought an Ashford eSpinner 3 last spring, for my first e-wheel. I did not love it. So I ordered the Eew 6 to see if the reason for not loving the Ashford was in my head or in the wheel. Well, it was in the wheel, so the Big A got to go. Eew stayed - I love it. A couple of comments: The "manual" does not tell you that the twist switch also works as a on-off button. Also, on the body (in the opposite side of the twist direction switch) there are two magnets that hold the orifice hook. However, keeping the hook there isn't safe when plying (ask me how I know that...) I left the bottom case off and replaced it with a piece of vinyl plank. The wheel got lower and thus fits in a smaller bag. I have never had any issues with the wheel travelling. Not on any surface. It was a different story with the Big A, it liked its travels, even on slow speeds. Also, getting the settings right is easy with Eew, not so with the A. I love how light and clever and portable this wheel is, especially compared to the very clumsy and heavy A which also has very awkward bobbins that don't fit anywhere. In the Fb there's a group for Eew (Electric Eel Wheel Group) where you get great help if you run into problems. But also, Maurice handles customer service very well, eagerly and fast. By the way, I love watching how you and John interact. It's just so sweet and funny and makes me happy, too. And yes, I know that sounds weird but I'm weird and not bothered by that. So please don't feel awkward for me saying that 😅

I believe the base allows for a big usb battery, that will weigh it down. Also a rubber trivet under it works great
