that 'necklace' is a wrap bracelet. DO NOT wear it around your neck, the wire could hurt or worst case scenario cut you. You were right the first time! It's not supposed to close, it just wraps around your arm as a bracelet. Look them up for ways to style them :) I own a few myself!
