I was emo/scene around the same era. My flex is that I ran a moderately popular Polyvore page with that style. But the big difference is that I was textbook definition conflict avoidant so when my parents told me I couldn’t dye my hair, I was like, okay cool, I won’t dye my hair then. The only thing that made me cringe about my emo/scene era is that I had literally no filter, so I’d share literally any and every though I had in my brain on my page. Growing older for me is realizing life’s too short to always avoid conflict and realizing I should maybe keep some information to myself lol. Edit: Being a chubby, clumsy, autistic kid who looks younger than my actual age, I was also surprised to learn people were intimidated by me. I only found out recently when talking to someone else, people were intimidated by me. The funny thing is that I did kind of want to intimidate people back then, but I had no idea I actually succeeded in it.

Dude. 🧡 This was literally me. I had no filter. Omg. That's what made me so cringey. I had some classmates following my Instagram fan page. One time I made a vent about my teachers. I cussed them out and said I wanted to punch them in the face. It resulted in me having a meeting with the principal and the teachers. I suspect it was "Chloe" who told on me. That was one of many instances... You hit the nail on the head. Chubby, clumsy, autistic. That is most likely why we were intimidating. Most of the time, I was daydreaming, oblivious, and obsessive. Instead of looking younger though, I looked a lot older than I was. I had premature growth and was double the height of some of my teachers and classmates.

Being emo and scene is awesome and nothing to be ashamed of. Wish less people would treat it like "blunder years" or an "awkward emo phase", youth should be about exploring yourself. If you tried to be scene/emo and it wasn't for you, good for you, but plenty of people are still emo as grown adults even if they don't dress like it.

I agree that it's nothing to be be ashamed of. Not sure if this is being directed at me but I'm not trying to say that being emo or scene itself was cringe. My avatar has emo/scene inspiration and I still dress emo/scene to this day so I don't think its a blunder or cringe obviously. I am alluding more or so that middle school itself was an awkward time in my life, which I think most people would agree. I was trying to find myself and copy a style I grew an affinity towards. It was some of the decisions I made that were cringey like piercing my own nose the //, and bleaching my hair to the point it fell out because I didn't know what I was doing.

Wow! I get recommended tons of videos from random channels all the time, but this one really got my attention! The animations are really cute and also pretty impressed at a technical level too as you managed to include proper lip-sync and keying. I also love the inclusion of how you tried dyeing your hair with Kool-Aid which gives us a good idea of what is was like trying to adapt into the scene _scene_ which made me laugh. I wanted to be scene so bad when I was 9-10 (I’m a 2010s kid) I would wear those colourful striped fingerless gloves and a “rawr means I love you in dinosaur” hoodie my mom gave me that had burn holes in it, I wanted to cut my hair but i was not allowed to, but then I grew out of all my clothes and just stopped (I did not know that much about the culture since I was literally a baby I just saw it and was like “woah epic I wanna do that!!” I grew more insecure about my body as a got older and stopped caring about my style and only cared about hiding my body Which I am now also starting to get better with)

Same over here. After my pure scene phase, I eventually started to just want to hide my body too because I felt like I didn't look good in anything. I hope you find more confidence in yourself. We're always so hard on ourselves, especially around this age. As I've grown older, I've found I care less and less about what others think and I just say f it. I'm a young adult, I'm going to have fun with how I look no matter what people think.
