You can't beat a C series volvo, Here in the uk we had some of those in the quarry industry and they ran circles around the newer series of volvo dumptrucks in wet ' muddy conditions. We had them with 15,000 hours on them and they where still going when they where sold, if you un do the catch for the radiator cover on the oil filter side you can lift it off and the there is a bolt that holds the radiator tight, undo that and the radiator will slide sideways and you can gain better access to the oil filter side of the engine. The fuel tank goes through and is under the radiator aswell, you will find the fuel gauge works off the bottom tank, your gear selector is wierd how it is marked, 1st gear is at the top of the selector nearest the dash, then 2nd then 3rd, the next one down is drive to use it in fully automatic, the next one down is neutral, then the furthest on down is reverse, your handbrake is of when the brake lever is pointinting upwards and on when it is pulled down, Put the gear lever up one place from the neutral it will then drive in all gears When it is in low range you should get roughly 20/ 22 mph and about 32 ish in high range, , i think if that light is on , on the right hand side you where looking at it has not gone into high range, Best wishes for 2022.

That's like the old Cat excavators here in the US, the people that aren't a huge company writing off brand new excavators every year will keep rebuilding the old ones because they're rock solid. There’s a big plug on top of the tranny on the rad side sometimes it gets dirty and losses connection and unplugging it a blowing it out with air will be enough to make it shift again but I’ll warn ya it’s a real bitch to get at even with the seat out and floor boards out. We have an A25C with a different style shifter. Two things are to note from it. 1, unless the gas pedal is all the way up it will not let you shift from forward to reverse. 2, There is a potentiometer on the throttle pivot of the injection pump that controls when the transmission shifts.

Tipper cables were a crap job on landfill sites! There's a slack adjuster on the handbrake from memory. You'll be pleased as punch with her when you get her to job and use it. Only thing better than a 25c is a fleet of 25c's! Great content, brought back some find memories. Ps first click is auto and counts down gears as you push forward. Put it in auto and heel to the steel!

As others have said the main fuel tank is under the radiator with gravity feed from the one behind the cab. The tranny is an oddball of sorts for Volvo, it is a ZF trans which is a solid unit by all accounts and not volvo like most of their offroad trucks. A lot of things affect the shifting on these units as I have one and have had a few issues develop. The recommended oil change in the tranny is 500 hours so I would suggest you do that when you do your service. I bought a used service manual for mine and it has been a tremendous help in tracking down wiring issues and troubleshooting various issues. One thing a Volvo service guy told me to be careful about was to shut the engine down prior to turning the key switch to the off position. Something about turning the key off shuts off the voltage regulator in the alternator which could let spike voltage go through the system and he had seen it damage the trans ecu. When I 1st got mine I shut it down the same way that I saw you doing it but printed some signs and put in the cab as reminders.
@craigsowers84562 жыл бұрын
That's great info on the shut down procedure !!! And logical given when it was designed ... and Chris didn't get the "Dealer Tour" or manual like he would have back in 1999 ... so cool to see everybody that knows this truck contribute !!!

When you check/clean all the ground wires. First get you a bottle of conductive anti-seeze. It's like regular anit-seeze but it has powdered copper in it. It makes for a very low impedance grounding which will make your electrical systems work much better. It also stops surface corrosion that will degrade the ground over time. Replacing the crimp on ring terminals with soldered ones will help on the gauge circuits too.

Chris, I've been watching your channel for about a month or so now and I'm kind of curious. You and your uncle have an excavation business, that has equipment purchased by the company. Are you looking to break out on your own? Is that why you're getting your own heavy equipment, or is it just that you like having your own fleet of big iron? My mom's older brother had an excavation company in Indiana until he retired. I never got to watch him work, so I never got to see how sensitive a touch he had. I did see you lift a water bottle with the bucket and thumb, which I thought was amazing. It's also really cool to see you clean off a shed or carport and hardly leave a mark in the dirt. Looks great. I am sure you can get some good videos going over this truck and getting it back into shape. You might consider downloading the service manual for the truck. Seems like it would be worth the small cost. All the best to you in 2022!

Toured a coal mine in eastern Kentucky. They said on guy's main job was to keep overburden debris cleaned off the haul roads. A basket ball size rock could destroy a tire on one of their giant dump trucks and cost 30 grand to replace. They also had a spray truck that would spray the roads in the dry summer to keep the dust down.

Happy New Year!! Just like the Volvo I used to drive. Just found some pics I took of the one I drove back in 2008-2010. I'm really guessing here, but I think, for High-Range, put it in 4th and the truck will shift through the gears. Low-Range you can pick the gear, and if you choose 3rd, it will shift through 1 and 2. But if you're running loaded, you want to be in 1st to start in Low Range. Those A25c Volvo are workhorses. I think that fuel cap is after-market, I don't recall the one I ran having one like that, no locking cap. I also ran a Moxy, didn't like it, was too tippy, and then a Terex.

Not a bad truck. At least you bought it now and you should have winter wet days to piddle with it and fix a lot of the small stuff. And while at it may as well go ahead and make the AC blow cold air. Hopefully it's just something simple with the transmission shifting.

If your bed has a float Option, put it in that and try shifting through gears. I know the old cat d400s if you don’t have it in float or the bed all the way down, it won’t come out of a certain gear.

That's awesome Chris, she's a bueat Clark, she just needs some TLC man an she will be good to go, tires dang near brand new, not sure on the shifting thing, but thanks for sharing buddy, 💪🇺🇸
