Thank you for watching!! I loved the BikeManForU. I won this shirt on one of his contests. Guess the weight of the clunker bike.

I watched some of your videos on your Gary Fisher. This is my 2nd one I've built up. The first one is my goto bike these days with a 1x10 Advent X drivetrain and drop bars. Thanks again for stopping by!

Use the 'release" portion of your cantilever brake and wheels will come off easier for you.

Nice video. I learnt a lot. I live in the U.K. and I just bought on Gumtree a Gary Fisher Wahoo 1996 in Cherry red. It has a similar set up to yours, before your rebuild. I think I will change the steel rims to aluminium rims to reduce the weight of the bike, bearing in mind it has chromoly rigid forks and frame. I’m not sure if I will change over the cantilever brakes for v brakes but I might. I have 3 questions? What tool did you use with the mallet to remove the old headset cups that was left inside the frame after removing the handlebars, stem and headset bearings? And what tool did you use to put the new headset cups back in place inside the frame? It looked like a steel tool with a long handle either side to tighten the headset cups back in place. And I tried putting a new chain on my bicycle a few years ago but I cut it too short and it was pulling the derailleur too much towards the chainrings on the crankset. I notice you placed the new chain on the smallest chainring on the rear cassette and the smallest chainring on the crankset before cutting the correct length for the chain. It’s tricky to get right by the looks of it.

Thanks for watching! The tool to remove the headset cups is called a headset cup removal tool. There is also a headset cup press that I used to press the cups into the frame. The chain length can be determined by putting the chain on the small cog in the rear and the smallest ring in the front. Then cut it so that the rear derailleur just misses the cogs. Then you have it set correctly. Thanks for watching!!

Detach brake cables first before taking the tires out.
@TheValueBikeAdvocate Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. I’ll do that next time. The tubes both had slime in them. The rear was completely sealed and I could not get all the air out. The front I was able to get about half out before it clogged too.

Nice video! How did You manage to put an 8 speed cassete in that hub?
@TheValueBikeAdvocate Жыл бұрын
The hub came with a 7-speed cassette with a spacer. The new 8-speed cassette fit properly without the spacer and I bought new shifters. It works great!! Thanks for watching!!!

So this bb, had plastic on drive side correct ? In this case since I had a stack and stripped drive side crank-arm, what do u suggest how should I approach removal of the BB (because in my case bb has metal on non-drivide side) considering that my crank on the left side is removed without problem, and metal bb is exposed ?
@TheValueBikeAdvocate11 ай бұрын
So you stripped out the threads on the crank arm and don have access to the spline for the BB? If so you are in a world of hurt. You can try cutting the BB spindle off gaining access to the cup for removal. If you stripped the spline in the BB cup you will have to get creative. Did you turn it the correct direction? Look to my BB removal video. It’s the latest one I did. Let me know how this turns out for you.

A lot easier to take the wheels off if you release the stranding cable first
