Synthetic every 5k miles or less for naturally aspirated if its a Turbo charged engine every 3-3500 miles synthetic because the turbos are tough on oil. If you use conventional oil every 3k miles, but most makes can only have synthetic now. Transmission every 45k miles normal automatic, CVT every 25k-30k mile intervals the CVT really needs it done often! I follow these rules and every vehicle I have owned made it to 200k miles or more all original transmissions included. I do not do machine tranny services just drop filter and replace and refill.

I have owned 200 various makes and models of personal vehicles, and do all my own repairs and maintenance for the past 50 years. I bought a new 2022 car, my first vehicle using Full Synthetic Oil. I was not a fan of Synthetics, based on the marketing hype, so I experimented, ignoring the Manufacturer's RECOMMENDED service intervals here in Canada. I will HONESTLY inform others based on my personal knowledge and experience - DO NOT EXCEED 10,000 km or 6,000 mile engine oil change intervals. As well, be sure to service and change differential oil in AWD, and get the Transmission oil changed. DO not wait for the first recommended Manufacturer's interval, as it is the most critical, which is the BREAK-IN period. Get the metal and gasket material out of your drive train. My AWD differential oil was horrendous at 30,000km (18,000 miles). Just sayin !

Its states that it will use oil in the owners manual. I bought a 1 owner Camry with the same engine you have the 2.5. and the guy who owned it before me said he was putting a half quart every 600 miles, I don't like to use oil additives at all but I did take the spark plugs out and put sea foam in and let it set 24 hours and then put the plugs back in and ran it for just about 300 miles and changed the oil and then i put 5w30 oil back in and it dont use a drop between oil changes at 4000 miles now, the guy who owned it before me went 10,000 miles between oil changes like Toyota told him to. never listen to Toyota or anyone that tells you to go 10,000 miles on oil. if you pull the dip stick and its starting to turn dark or brown I bet if you change that oil it will be black oil changes color when it starts to break down. people will come at me saying they do this and that. that's them not me I don't go over 5000 miles and if the oils color is getting brown then that's when i change it if its 3-4000 miles I go by the oil.

As a 2nd gen Tundra owner it would be ludicrous to go longer than 5k kms on conventional or 8k kms synthetic. Kirkland, Amazon and SuperTech are all made by Warren and tested well above most brand oils youd find at Canadian Tire. I prefer Wix Synthetic filters. Ive watched numerous videos and read countless forums to reach my mix of brands. ProjectFarm has a great video on oil testing for Warren Oils vs name brand. "Synthetic" oil is almost a gimmick on most oils similar to "No Sugar Added"...there are few full synthetics out there...one specifically by Amsoil. Ive been a mechanic going on 30 years and this is just my advice for our climate here in Canada. Good luck with your 3rd gen. DO NOT add anything to your engine oil. These products do more damage than help in any way. Te best thing you can do is to start using the new Valvoline Restore and Protect synthetic oil as that has been proven to clean up piston rings and engines in testing. Just know that you want to change the oil filter early due to all of the debris it cleans up in the beginning. When you buy a used car, always check the oil level before driving it back home! On your Tundra, I would never do 10k mile oil changes on any turbo engine, 5k miles at the most. And know that Toyota says 10k miles is for "normal" conditions when 98% of us fall under the "severe" use category which is 5k mile oil changes.
