The control center is provided by Clevo, the company that manufactured the chassis. Thunderobot just puts their own branding on it. You can buy the same model just with slightly different exterior treatments from a variety of sellers all over the world.

@@georgecy5937 yeah I know for a fact that PCSpecialist uses both clevo and tongfang chassis hence why they have a popular 3080 model that's literally identical to MEDION's. I considered buying the MEDION seeing the price but after learning that the chassis can reach 55 degrees in spots and it sounds like an aircraft engine I went with a 3070 legion 7 lol. i'll happily lose 10% performance if it means avoiding 1st degree burns everytime I boot up cyberpunk.

@@IvanOoze1990 It simply means the SSD comes from a major OEM not an unnamed brand. Being from a particular brand isn't an indicator of quality or performance, in fact any major OEM can produce both S-tier and crap tier drives (as we see from WD Green SSD and Crucial BX500, etc.). I also deal with OEM desktops and laptops fairly often (mostly Dell, occasionally HP) and see they ship with Samsung/WD/Kioxia OEM SSD models as well as some lesser known SSD companies but are still subsidiary of the larger OEMs. Most of the time I would swap them out for an after-market drive with larger capacity and better performance.

Compare to WD Samsung or micron(even the new Chinese independent R&D brand Zhitai), Toshiba, or new Kioxia, is the worst in any other different levels of product, it's not stable, it's slow compare to same price's product, I had a Toshiba rc500(kioxia rebranded to rc10) read 8.2tb write 1.8tb and guess what, health percentage drops to 81%, speed is really slow, avg. r&w is around 1700m/s and i never saw any other brand's ssd behave like this, even before this, my old Toshiba TR200 won't recognize, my kioxia usb drive won't recognize and i lost all my data, my two Toshiba hdd had drive failure for no reason at all(other WD drive is all good) i promise i will never use any Japanese storage product ever again.

One of the things i learned living in Asia is that they are generally quite proud of their laptops, and price them accordingly. in the US and Canada, laptops seem to be much more like "well, I guess you can't handle a desktop" where as in Asia, it's sort of a lifestyle choice. So they tend to be very, very overpriced.

It looks remarkably similar to both the Gateway and Evoo laptops I purchased over the past six months, just with potentially better moulding, and a metal top-plate. Beware control center with break eventually and any rgb or fan control goes out the window. Had control center 2.0 on a digital storm laptop which was also a clevo laptop and they don’t even update there software.

Actually I recently just got an Alienware x15 r2 and even though it was a dell product it didn’t come pre-loaded with much beyond windows 11 pro and a 1 year subscription from Office 365. I was pleasantly surprised I didn’t have to spend 2 days removing bloatware.

The fact that it's quite open at the bottom means temps and fan noise can probably come down with a good laptop stand with fan

I got a Gigabyte G5-KD with an i5-11400H and an RTX 3060 (105W) for about 900€ in Germany. It performs pretty well, is also very loud and has the same control center, which is just the standard software from the manufacturer „Clevo“. A lot of brands just use Clevo as a supplier and slap their branding on it. All in all a pretty good deal for the performance you get, I mainly use it for LAN parties or for controller gaming on the TV in the living room. At the time, it was the only reasonable option under 1000€ with an RTX 3060 (105W). All the other cheap gaming laptops were either much more expensive or just had a loser 3050.

that... looks suspiciously similar to my acer predator helios 300. it's identical inside. even the terrible speakers check. looks cheaper outside though. anway, if it's anything like my laptop, the way to open it is to put it in your lap or a table in front of you upside down with the vents facing back (so, the right orientation for use, just upside down), grab the vents with your fingers while putting a little pressure on the middle of the shell as if you're lightly bending it. the whole cover will come out gracefully in one piece, no prying needed.

Good review, I like the combination of information and humor. As for the laptop, considering my one and likely only experience with Alienware laptops I think I'd rather have that one than another Alianware - but I'd much, much, rather have something better than either of those. 😉 (My laptop experience hasn't been horrible but it has been very lackluster considering the price).

I love that they also included 911 in there for the extra branding (Porsch) or the drama of 9-1-1.

It's def a Clevo computer. Since the software "Control Center" is an app you download from the Microsoft Store. That's why it's more expensive an OEM-ware because you can UPGRADE most Clevo and Tongfang (competitor) computers with a better CPU and even GPU in some models.

Hi from the UK. I recently bought an Acer Predator Helios 300 with a 12700h, 3070 Ti (150W), 1TB SSD, 144Hz 1440p 17.3" display and 16GB of DDR5 for £1,489. It was open box and included an eBay coupon, but seems like a great deal compared to this! Currently selling from the same retailer's website for £1,899 brand new. Since our currency has recently become worthless, that equates to approximately $2,105 USD for it brand new, or $1,650 USD for the open box one I purchased (with a full warranty).

That was indeed a great deal. In my country, I live in the EU, for such specs you pay above 2100 euro. Probably even if on sale won’t go below 2000 euro, at those specs, at least for the time being.

Is it worth changing to the coldest paste you can buy on the CPU ect just to run it at coolest and stop and wear or throttling? You cant trust they put good paste on it and maybe put you own ram in so it can be as good as it can be..

I have an older version of this laptop with an i7-10870h rtx 3060 16gb ram 1tb ssd I bought it from Banggood in March of 2021 for about 900 $ at that time it was relatively good deal.Though I rarely ever game on it. It's mostly being used for coding and photo/video editing.

Honestly, if you look on Newegg for a 12700H and RTX 3050 laptop, the cheapest one is about $1239USD (which is around $1700CAD) which, while cheaper than the featured laptop from Thunder Robot, it's not by much.

Still better than average price in Saudi. We still have gen 11 and 10 for that price. I was able to get my hand on one of the few units (from what I can tell, only a handful) middle Eastern official TUF gaming F15 2022 for 2090 Canadian on sale. It's built "OK", heats A LOT but seems to perform very well.
