As a fan of alcohol markers Rach, I'll tell you this, you being shocked at the price of Ohuhu markers is kind of amusing because they are actually a cheaper alternative to the coveted Copic markers.

And another thing :). You really need to use alcohol markers on non-porous paper or card stock - as in, glossy. You won’t get anywhere near the beauty of those babies on a regular “flat” or matte paper.
@katyaochoaАй бұрын
Ohuhu is actually very affordable compared to other brands like copic. Also the set comes with a silicone pad for you to put under the paper so it won't bleed on to the next page. I love alcohol markers so much. They blend well with Prismacolor colored pencils.
@DeathByBlonde1Ай бұрын
Back in my “I’m a bored SAHM” days, I got back into drawing and coloring. I was a really good artist when I was younger and won some competitions, so I went and got all the Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils I could find. I absolutely love them. I have several pieces I did hanging in my house. They still look amazing and I am super proud of myself. Now that my kid is a teenager and I work full time, I don’t have much time for drawing anymore, but I still love it.
@mimispapercraftingАй бұрын
When you use alcohol markers for coloring you usually use 3 shades of one color thats why the big packs have so many markers. It makes what you color look so good. And as others said these are the affordable option.
@hannerheadАй бұрын
Not me running to the comments to tell rachel she needs to use the ohuhu markers on marker paper, other wise itll bleed through. Only to keep watching and see she addressed that very concern 😂 They are definitely the cheaper alternative in the grand scheme of alcohol markers and are definitely targeted towards artists not the casual colorer. However, i think youve mentioned one or two of your kids are more artistically inclined. Id highly recommend getting them a marker sketch book and letting them play with them! Markers are a lot of fun and you can create such beautiful pieces of art with them ❤
@katw6757Ай бұрын
She also missed the plastic page protector to put under paper in case the markers do bleed through. It's a very different vibe than watching the art KZbinrs 😅

The little soft plastic bit thats wrapped around the markers in the bag is actually to put behind the page so it doesn't bleed through to more pages. The colouring book isnt printed on the back sides of the pages so that you can use alcohol markers! Alcohol markers are definitely more of an artist item than a "childrens" item. They're an affordable option for people to get into the medium and it's definitely worth saving up to buy the big pack so you get all the colours and you're not paying for duplicates. Not a gift to give to the typical kid but more of a level up item for teens or adults that really enjoy colouring or making art.

I bought my then 8 year old daughter the 72ct of those makers, they were of course on some flash sale, but just a heads up for parents these can have a strong smell. My daughter ended up with a slight headache after using them, she's almost 12 now and opens a window while using them. If you do forget to use the provided silicone mat most bleed through can be cleaned up with rubbing alcohol if the surface is safe for that. They are nice markers for the price!

4:33 when using the colourless blender, you acutely don't want to use it for blanding colours together. Its more for lift/erasing colours. For blending colours together you want to use the colour you're wanting to blend and switch back and forth between them. If that makes any sense. When using the markers on the colouring book, you can use a peice of paper behind the colouring page so the markers don't bleed on to other pages. Ohuhu also give a silicone matt to prevent the markers from bleeding on to other pages. These markers are also cheap compared to Copic, which are $8 CAD per marker. Copics are professional grade, but ohuhus are still really good. I use both and they work well together. I would recommend watching some video from artist and how to use Ohuhu markers, thats what I did when I first got them. ❤ Have fun making some nice colouring pages!
@georgeannems14Ай бұрын
I color in that same Fuzzy Hygge book with my Ohuhu alcohol markers 😊 you just have to put cardstock or a couple sheets of regular paper in between the pages to catch the bleed-through. I have watched a lot of TikTok videos to learn how to use the markers! Definitely a learning curve but worth it for the payoff.

I got these to try as a replacement to the Copics I have used up. They are a less expensive alternative, but they do not blend nicely. Well, I can't get them to blend nicely anyway. They are also much more saturated colorwise. I use them for making cards, and heavier cardstock does let them bleed through a bit less.

I have a similar book and the markers. When using alcohol markers on those books you can put a blank paper in between sheets and prevent bleed through to the next page. The page adjacent to the test page in the coloring book mentions this as well. The Ohuhu markers come with a silicone sheet you can use for that purpose.

So like a lot of people have said Ohuhu markers are actually quite affordable compared to the top of the line Copics. Alcohol markers are notorious for bleeding through paper as opposed to the water-based markers you are more used to. The major difference being that water-based markers don’t layer well, they tear up paper and don’t blend well if you do multiple layers. Alcohol-based markers are excellent at blending but you do need to learn how to use them (mostly you’re going back and forth with two markers multiple times to achieve a soft gradient). Also the plastic sheet included in the bag should be placed under whatever you are coloring on to keep the ink from bleeding onto the next page, unless you buy Ohuhu’s bleed proof sketchbook, which is super affordable.

@KogobeanАй бұрын
oh Ohuhu markers! those are the cheaper alternative to Copic markers, they're alcohol based so it's easy to blend/mix or should be. the way you 'blend' them is you use the same colour but in different shades. so if you use blue you use the different shades of blues, takes getting used to and some trial and error. also i wonder if that little bug vacuum would work on bigger spiders cause we get a lot of wolf spiders during the summer time here and i hate them, usually kill them but if i could use that i could set them free outside.

Hi Rachel the Ohuhu marker are fantastic it allow you to take two color and by passing on top of each other ther create a new color and a seem less transition cause they don’t dry as fast a water based color and they don’t destroy the paper. Also you will not see every stroke that the watter based leave as you color. But the down side is that they bleed on the other page always protect you surface . The regular papier is usually not great cause they soak to muck and it make over the line. Ohuhu made a peper that does not bleed grew but it is expensive. The great thing is when you draw it also allow you to make shadow with different shade of the same color and the drawing get way better . Have fun with your Ohuhu. Love your content by the way you and Chris are wonderful.
